Saturday, grilled up some pork steaks that had been marinating in balsamic, olive oil, garlic and salt. Made some yummy rice, with red chili paste, paprika, garlic, olive oil, tomato paste, salt, pepper in it. Then some summer squash seasoned with fennel and cumin. All was good.

    Redstar yesterday!

It sounds like you have had a proper gourmet weekend!

Im sitting cross legged in the garden sunshine refusing to share popcorn with my sister who has come out to play.

Ive poured over a caramel made with sugar, water and half a chilli, it has real bite. I hope it biodegrades quickly, it got thrown everywhere while we were running about.

My sister is making broadbean and onion burgers with lots of mustard, chilli sauce, tomatoes and lettuce.

Plantain fritters are taking over my kitchen! This past week Ive made them with chorizo, polenta, extra chilli, with/ without sugar, different herb combos.

These were sweetcorn and chilli and so tasty I could have eaten each one twice.

You can eat them hot or cold.

    Today's menu:

A relaxing pre-prandial Pimms produced to prepare people properly. :hehe:

    Followed by;

A lovely rich french onion soup topped with crunchy french bread with a topping of melted cheese flavoured with garlic.

Roast leg of lamb, marinated for 48 hours in a coating of spices, garlic and ginger and cooked slowly to tenderise it even more. Accompanied by a rich gravy flavoured with the marinade.

Lovely light Quorn burgers made with ginger, garlic, spring onions, coriander leaves, chilli, lemon juice, soy sauce and egg.

Crispy roast potatoes basted with the spicy lamb juices (vegetarian potatoes roasted separately).

Freshly picked, and lightly boiled, runner beans.

Sliced, freshly picked, courgettes blanched and then tossed in a tomato and herb sauce.

Crunchy, chunky, cabbage stir fried with freshly popped black mustard seeds and finished with just a touch of veggie stock.

Boiled cauliflower tossed in caramelised onions and roasted cumin seeds.

    All this followed by;

    Blackberry mousse.

Rhubarb and blackberry crumble, gluten and sugar free, lightly sweetened with Stevia and topped with a roasted crunchy coating of ground almonds, chopped mixed nuts, sunflower seeds, pumkin seeds and a sprinkling of sesame seeds.

    Strawberries tossed lightly in Cachaca.

    Freshly sliced mango and melon.

Relax afterwards in the garden with your choice of Tea, coffee, tisane or Bambu.

Sorry, but we are fully booked for today :)

Future bookings - price on application.

OMG! Did you cook it all yourself? It sounds proper 'stand up and applaud' delicious.

    We definitely need photos shiney!

Extra props for the cachaca too! :D I love me a caipirinha- regular or with fruit.

Today- Ive had all my calories in smoothie form- mango, pineapple and banana bulked up with protein whey powder.

Oh and four ice lollies. The sort that come in green or blue and come in liquid form and you stick 'em in the freezer.

    Might have something later.

Cous cous and roasted veg salad for lunch.

My dinner - meatball marinara sub, with frilled courgettes.

Chilli, basil, courgettes, shallots all from the garden.

Must say that although I am not necessarily a meat eater ... I prefer DH's offering at the moment as the rest sounds quite unpalatable .. but each to their own ... :hehe:

I far prefer lots of fruit and salad in the summertime ... nothing fried like those fritter things ... :flag:

I play competitive sport Victoria and train most days. My diet is mostly complex carbs, wholefoods and mucho veg, but I need fats too- mostly plant based unsaturated fats.

At the moment Im rowing and cross training 4-5 times a week- sometimes twice a day- which includes circuit training, cardio and free weights.

I can easily burn 2-3,000cal+ in session. And in the months coming up to serious meets, that can double. I love to eat, but its also fuel. :)

Try a fritter sometime- they're good for you!

Mrs shiney is teaching again this weekend so I shall be doing lunch for the students.

Today I think I shall make a veggie dhansak with pilau rice accompanied by jeera popadoms with a nice freshly made kachumber and home made chilli chutney followed by fresh mango and melon.

Tomorrow I shall probably make a Quorn bolognese with spaghetti and individual garlic ciabattas (I may buy the ciabattas as the bakers at the farm down the road does some good ones.

Got to go as it is time for my porridge. :hehe:
