DaveW your Grandaughter is adorable..... such blue eyes. Great to see her enjoying her tom !

Gulp..... you all make such delicious sounding menus :) You must be very accomplished chefs ( and chefesses:hehe: )

Yesterday I had a wander down the garden and saw that overnight rain had swelled more of my container grown crops nicely. I went and fetched a bowl and filled it with a handful of runner beans, an even bigger handful of french green beans, some peas, some mangetout, a couple of courgettes, and some small spring onions and then went to the greenhouse. Tomatoes are ripening in there all the time but I picked a few cherry toms and nipped a few basil leaves off and a sprig or two of coriander. I have some garlic drying off in there too so grabbed a small one ( they are all small really :hehe: as I planted them late but hey! ) Off to the freezer I went and took out a portion of chicken 'strips' I bag up for stir fries. These are only 5 or 6 strips of chicken breast but ideal for one person.
I prepared all the veg, cutting the beans into bite sized pieces and leaving the cherry toms whole. I stir fried the chicken strips with my home grown garlic ( mmm the smell :) ) and then took it out while I cooked the veg. Peas, chopped green beans, 3 or 4 mangetout, sliced runners, sliced courgettes, whole cherry toms, a couple of sliced mushrooms I had in the fridge and finally , as they were small, some whole baby spring onions. When nice and tender, back in went the chicken and my basil and coriander leaves......... bit of chinese 5 spice..... done !
I know its only a stir fry, but when it all came from my garden....... and everything from containers.... i was really proud. It tasted heavenly :gnthb:

Dave- what a pretty baby :)

Cooked the four little potatoes my garden has produced thus far.
They were sliced in half and boiled, then served warm with a salsa verde and grilled mackerel.

    Lush and creamy.

Mrs shiney has some students coming on Saturday from Japan.

I'm only just thinking about what to cook for their lunch. I may do grilled salmon with stir fried veg. Still thinking about it.

Would you cook something traditionally British? Or are you going to ease them in gently?

How much entertainment do you generally provide for them?

They're only here for the day :hehe:.
    Arrive 9.30 - hot drink
    Study until 12.30 then lunch
Study until 5.30 - 6.00 with occasional drink breaks - then go.

They get what they are given so I try to cook something that I think would be acceptable. I check when they arrive that it is OK.

Why do they come round for so short a time? (Im well nosey!)

A neighbour hosts students for a week at a time, a new lot every Sunday. Mostly very excitable and I get to explain why I have a kayak in the garden each week in a different language.

Mrs shiney is a Reiki Master so they come for instruction. The food is incidental and is just part of the course.

Cruel week leading up to a weekend of competition. Running and rowing in horizontal rain :(

Its been miserable but earned us a first in the pairs, and a third in the quad.

Mostly grilled chicken and fish this weeks with mountains of leafy veg. In addition today I have eaten two and half corn on the cobs!

    Delicious!

I should also say, that instead of coming to witness my victorious afternoon, some of my less loyal my friends went to the Jerk Cookout Food Festival in Brockwell Park, London.

Im expecting them back with masses of delicious spicy take away jerk chicken.

Shiney, I'd come to do the course just so I can get to eat some of the lovely food you mention.

Cheers :D Its been an achey recovery tbh.

It really helps that we've been training together with the elite men this year.
I often think I require an extra set of lungs. Nothing too fancy, just a lightweight detachable set which kick in when my own are screaming. :)

I saw a show about baking cakes last night and thats all I want now- cake!

Anybody baking today? Im not fussy as to what type!
