That's interesting, as I find one of the attractions of hardbacks is the feel of holding something more substantial. :noidea: Although there's a limit to the size that I find comfortable.

@Gail_68 I like libraries and book shops. :blue thumb:

The one in the picture above is in Lima. :)

I've got quite a few pictures I've taken in places like that but the lighting isn't always good for taking photos.

This was an interesting bookshop. It's in Porto and is supposed to have given J.K. Rowling her inspiration for the bookstore, Flourish and Blotts. She used to live and work in Porto and visited the Lello Bookshop there.

This is a much more modern bookshop in the back streets of Ipanema that I like to visit when I'm in Rio, as they have a good bistro style restaurant and coffee shop upstairs.

@Gail_68 can you tell me if the family wills you are reading, are they on any Ancestry sites or do you have to pay to see them on line as Mr Kandys sister was telling us about relatives wills from the past that she has found on one of those family tree sites that she has paid to join and she was talking us that she has read these wills as part of her family research but we don’t know how she found them and wasn’t very forthcoming with the info:scratch:

I often thought about doing family research by joining one of those sites but when I have talked to my older brothers and sisters about distant family members, they all came up with a different version of the same story so I gave up in the end as I wasn’t sure what truths or fabrications were being told to me:sad:

@shiney I didn’t realise that Catherine Cookson had written at least 100 books in her life time so I have a way to go:biggrin:

On the TV this week they have had some of her books on the Drama channel I think it is and as ended up spending three hours watching The Girl and I didn’t realise it went on for that long and I am going to start reading that story in my book to see if the books and Dramas are more or less the same:smile:

                  @Kandy

Hi Kandy, If it's something you would like to do then do it, don't listen to what family say because there's different researchers and if your really into it, then you want birth/marriage/death/ residents area's they lived, occupation, and anything that name can research you to and yes you can get Wills but you purchase them but for full access to any personal info besides certain census's you have to pay membership.

I've been with Genesreunited.co.uk for years but their tree design is terrible now but I also had mine imported over to Ancestry, theirs is not to bad but if you do want to start a tree, this site is your best bet and I suggest joining them, as research access to members is great.

I hope this helps and you could be a person who loves doing it and wants to research deeper into a person:)

@toppington This books on Amazon 7 star rating...here's the quick outline of the story they give if it helps :)

It's a year after the Brexit vote. The four housemates and Timmy are on a visit to see their evil genius cousin Rupert. Rupert owns a chunk of the Jurassic Coast, part of which he has turned into an island and declared independence from Britain. Its fifteenth-century Dorset castle is a tourist attraction, but a computer hack puts the ancient fortifications into lockdown and plunges the Five into peril. Can our intrepid friends escape to the safety of mainland Europe?

I've read through the Fraser genealogy, a few interesting facts there @Gail_68, thanks. :) I then followed that by researching the Lovat name instead which brought up a few book titles on Amazon. One book published in 2012 looked to be a good read until I read the review and apparently it has many factual mistakes. I've decided now to pay Waterstones a visit and see if they can fetch anything up in a local book search. I'll let you know if I find anything.

@Sheal I thought it may be of interest to you, I've found that when I've gone to buy some books and reviews have stated mistakes also and like yourself left well alone.

Waterstones are good as I used to purchase new released hard backed books from there, good luck mate :)

Well I've just finished my book which was a nice read and tomorrow I start this one :)

The Red Fury (d'Vant Bloodlines Book 2) by Kathryn Le Veque

                            In sight to the book.
1233 A.D. - A young woman forced to command her father’s battered Highlander army upon his death. Her only hope in saving her home, and her life, is with a fearsome mercenary called The Red Fury.

Josephine de Carron is a young woman with a massive legacy weighing on her slender shoulders. As heiress to the Earldom of Ayr, she is a cousin to the king through her mother, and the king considers her a most valuable bargaining tool in the politics of Scotland. But Josephine isn’t a willing pawn for the king – she’s only concerned with saving her family home, Castle Torridon, from the repeated attacks of a former ally. After a particularly nasty siege, Josephine realizes that they cannot withstand another and she is forced to summon the most feared mercenary in Scotland, a man known as The Red Fury.

Andrew d’Vant is a paradox – an English knight, he escaped his wicked brother years ago and fled to the highlands of Scotland, forming one of the most rag-tag and fiercest mercenary armies the world has ever seen. He has become very rich by fighting – and winning – other men’s battles. Summoned by Josephine, Andrew’s price is too high for the beaten castle but his instant attraction to Josephine has him accepting the task for far less than his usual fee. There’s something about the strong, battered, and beautiful woman that draws him in.

But The Red Fury gets more than he bargained for.

A simple task of defending a castle becomes an enormous and complex tale of adventure, suspicion, royal intervention, and dark family secrets. When Josephine is thrust into the king’s politics in spite of her resistance, she finds herself pledged to none other than Andrew’s wicked brother. Now, Josephine finds herself at the heart of the Kingdom of Scotland and deeply in love with Andrew, and he with her. Andrew must join with former adversaries in order to save the woman he loves from the man who ruined his life.
