Good morning @Sheal its a very enjoyable read my friend:smile:

"In December 1799, Dorothy Wordsworth, then aged 27, and her brother, William, a year and a half older, moved to Dove Cottage, Grasmere in the English Lakeland. The following year, Dorothy began a personal journal which she kept until January 1803. She had no thought of it ever being published, but since it first appeared in 1897 it has established her reputation as one of the most remarkable and distinguished writers about life in the English countryside." Through the work of contemporary painters and artists, this volume provides a vivid and beautifully illustrated account of the Wordsworths' rural life.

I'm reading The Adventures of Anabel Axelrod boxed set by Tracy Allen on my Kindle. I wanted some easy reading as my concentration is rubbish at the moment. I'm enjoying them even though they're different to the style of book I'd usually read.

Thank you @wiseowl, :) I may well buy the book and I can't believe it's selling for just a penny on Amazon.

          Hi All,

I am currently reading Black Flags : The rise of ISIS by Joby Warwick. It was a Christmas present and is quite an interesting read so far, only started it last week.

          Regards
          Rusty

I took this photo a couple of weeks ago. It's a red panda. Is it mentioned in your book?

I am re-reading Worldwar by Harry Turtledove, an epic alternative history which has an alien fleet invade Earth during WWII. I love sci-fi and this is one of my favourite series of novels.

I'm almost finished The Brother Gardeners: Botany, Empire and the Birth of an Obssession by Andrea Wulf.

I would highly recommend it. Rather dense but written in such a way to make it very readable and packed with interesting stuff obviously on gardening and the discovery, exchange and introduction of species around the world as well as good sketches of the characters involved including the competitiveness between collectors and growers. All those trees and plants we take for granted that were jewels of discovery in all four corners of the world in the 18th century.

I'm not anti Kindle or computer but I do like the feel of a book in my hand and even the aroma of a book rather than holding a slab of plastic with an illuminated screen. I'm in front of a computer every day and, when I have the time, I find holding a book and feeling the paper in my fingers is all part of the relaxation of reading. I tend to "fall" into a book and get completely engrossed to the point that I feel that I'm in the story whereas an illuminated screen doesn't bond me into the story. I suppose that it could be that a Computer display, for me, is just a source of information, whereas holding a book and the feeling the texture of it seems to bond me with the book and story.........an illusion I know, but that's the way the mind works and having two bedroom wall bookcases filled with books doesn't help!!:dunno::heehee:

Mines the same as Lori's with no backlight and a sepia type of screen.

I never read romances I find them boring but I'm hooked on the Outlander series at the moment written by Diana Gabaldon. Some of you may have seen the television series.

I got hooked because of the historic content. :) A young woman 'falls' through time at the end of WW2 and drops back 200 years to the time of Culloden in Scotland. She becomes involved with an outlaw and his family.

I read the first two books, then got bored with it. Probably because I am an ocean away from the location. :)

@ARMANDII i also like proper books, paperbacks as well as hardbacks and we also have had bookcases full of them (boxed them up at the moment ready for room decorating when Mr K retires:snorky:) and I resisted for a number of years about having a Kindle but mainly Mr Kandy bought me mine so that when we go off on our hols in the caravan it is easier to have a small device rather than a load of books which helps in there being less to pack into the back of the car.Nothing worse than having a dozen books(reading, ornithology, nature books etc)cluttering up the overhead lockers in the van which I don't always get to read the fiction ones as I am too busy out walking, and use the others for reference if there is a bird, flower, animal print, I am trying to identify (I take photos of the subject to identify later) so the idea is to have a Kindle with those types of books downloaded onto it (haven't checked yet if that can be done:snorky:)He also got me the mini iPad the other year so that while on holiday he can download photos onto it from my camera rather than having to take a laptop with me or having to carry lots of memory cards which might get lost and we can view the photos on wet days when we can't get out walking:snorky:

At the moment I haven't got much time for reading as I am too busy getting the garden looking nice and then will start on the allotment planting and sowing if the weather ever improves.

Sorry forgot what the question was:snork:

I've just started the second book Lori, the story is now in France and I'm losing interest. I'll persevere for the time being.
