Some books/ authors just don't gel, if I can't get past the first couple of chapters then I move on. Life's too short.

I really like ebooks. I borrow them online from the library and if I can't "get into it" , I simply remove it and go on to the next. And they let me join the hold list for new releases. I'm in line from 4 or so other users, up to 94 for Spare. I've got toffee ready to put on my nose to put me in the proper atmosphere, when I do get to see that one! Anne Cleeves latest, I'm only 8 readers away from getting my "hands' on that one.

And I can take my ebooks wherever I am. Well, not swimming but you get the idea. :)

Snap Lori I borrow ebooks from my Library too,I don't think I could go back to reading paper/hardback copies anymore. I also reserve books which is brilliant if I'm reading a series as I like to read them in order. The good thing is I can read them on all my online devices too. 2 tablets, laptop and my phone so find it easy to fit in time for a reading session.....I can even wash the kitchen floor and watch it dry while reading a couple of chapters  :dbgrtmb:

I read e-book novels but also read a lot of non fiction too and it's hopeless trying to use them as reference books. It's not easy trying to scoot around various parts of an e-book for particular parts to re-read, so I buy all non fiction in paperback form.

Also love to have a book with me when showing our car at a car show. Sitting around the car that is roped in having a book in hand to read in between questions from visitors. Get to see lots of states traveling with our show car. Or a book to have when we are down in our second home in North Carolina sitting on the dock watching the river --seeing eagles and ospreys flying, fish jumping at bugs on the river. Sail boats drifting by. Thank goodness less of a garden issue at that house, and the landscaper does a grand job when we are not there. But at home, still raking out even now in February. I'm working my way through the Hannay books by John Buchan. Can't say they're a must read but the language is good

I am currently reading my way through a series of murder mysteries set in the Norfolk Broads. Light easy reading that I can pick up and lay down (sometimes) as the mood takes me. The DI Tanner series by David Blake.

I have Kindle Unlimited so we pay £9.49 per month and we get the books for no further charge. My wife reads a couple of books a week and I just read them behind her (not standing behind her but after she is finished with them :) ).

I've just finished the last Hannay book and a bit relieved after a long slog!

Need to find a new nautical series I think

Just finished "Six for the Tolpuddle Martyrs", I remember being taught about them at school but didn't know the details. What a terrible and cruel world it was back then with the upper classes doing as they pleased to suppress the masses. In those days anyone they disliked were transported in chains to Australia where they were effectively sold as slaves to be worked to death. These poor farm workers never did anything wrong apart from setting up the first workers union to try and get a better wage.

I've just started reading a novel about the notorious Simon Fraser, 11th Lord Lovat known as 'The Old Fox'. It'll be interesting to see how it compares to his history.

Reading a brilliant series of books, by J D Kirk, at the moment. DCI Logan is the main character. They are set in and around the Scottish Highlands (based in Inverness) and the humour is typically Scottish (as is the language). Good stories and a great group of regular protagonists.
