Jazmine I hope I can be successful growing some sweet peas, some of those old fashioned heavily scented ones. I see packets of wildflower seeds to scatter around the lawn, and I saw some recently designed for sowing into a pot - what could be easier than throwing some seeds in a pot, I might try it.

I’ve noticed a lot of that growing in walls since we moved to Wales and it is very attractive

RoisinMcGuire I just looked up ivy leaved toadflax and it's such a pretty little plant - I like the shape of the whole plant, the way it crawls and dangles along a stone wall. To my uneducated eye the flowers look a bit like tiny snapdragons.

I love all those too! I don't do very well with growing sweet peas, but that scent! When I was younger, an old man had a long garden next to a really long footpath we used regularly, and he would have sweet peas there always, the whole length of the garden. I always think of him when sweet peas are mentioned.

Good luck Pink. One year I grew sweet peas and they were amazing. I try every year but never seem to thrive as well but as Mrs B says the scent! There is something special about sweet peas!

I keep thinking of more favourites now, lol! There's very few that don't make me happy, and I'm assuming I'm in a vast majority.

Lilac, I love it - I used to always sniff the flowers on ours when I was little, so it reminds me of carefree, early summer mornings, and also crashing into it multiple times learning to ride a two wheeler.

To me a "happy plant" is one that grows well and flowers.

Sweet peas like a lot of peas and beans need more water than you might think to do well.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone, it was lovely to hear what flowers bring you particular joy.

I thought of another myself - moon daisies. To add to mine of sunflowers and moon daisies, I now have a wonderful list for more inspiration. Time for me to get thinking about flowerbeds, pots and growing conditions!

My happy flowers are the blue agapanthus. Because they remind me of very happy holidays on the Isles of Scilly.
