She's never really gone in for all that sort of thing. The last time she did was on our wedding day, and it was only because she was ganged up on by the alliance of The Three Sisters (my two sisters plus her little sister - I knew nowt about it until the day):)

Its a good idea though, and I wish I hadn't left it too late, but I think I'd be hard pressed to organise it now. There's not much in the way of spas and pampering places round here (there is a spa, but it's the kind that sells cheap beer and expensive groceries), and I fear that the few places that are in the area will be winding up for christmas by now.

how about a bed and breakfast, very posh , romantic in another town, where a spa is also for her. to take her away for a long weekend. So she can get a break from being a mom, to being a pampered women . and don't say short noice. Just go on line to bed and breakfast .com look for local driveable town that is pretty, find a bed and breakfast there, look at pics. call them , give them your credit card number to hold the weekend date. ask them if in town there is a massage /facial thing there, book that . They can send you confirmations via email. Then get one of her sisters to baby sit the weekend. done.

              Or -
Hammer drill, circular saw, flame gun, wheelbarrow..... :snork:

I knew I could rely on you lot to rescue me:)

Some excellent ideas in here, and I think I know what I'm going to do now.

In town, we have Boots (for pampering gear), Thorntons (for chocs), and a few jeweller's shops. I reckon I'll buy a selection of different things for her.

I like the spa day and weekend away ideas too, but we're on a tight budget this year, and knowing wife, she would ask awkward questions if I spent too much. I know that sounds like an excuse from a tight wad, but its the truth:)

sharing. but first to say, we do not have children.
It has been the tradition in our home to get each other a lot of gifts at Christmas. Up to 20 gifts each to open that morning. Harder these past 5 years or so, cause we have enough stuff.
But for the first 19 years it ran true. This year I have for hubby only 5 gifts. He has for me 8 gifts. have a few days to find more.

Me and Miss Jiff don't do gifts, but what we do is, if there is any you like you buy it for your self, and say it's my Christmas gift, or if the tv is no good buy one for the both for you etc
