None of the photos are of our cars.

      1938 Morris 8

      Morris 10

The new moved to a more modern car. A 1956 Ford Prefect

Then we moved upmarket to a Ford Anglia 123e 1965 - new

      Ford Escort 1968 - new

Ford Escort GT 1970 - new

Then moved up to the Volvo 244
Did a deal with Volvo at the Motor Show and bought the one on the stand (as seen) for the same price that it would cost me for another Ford Escort. :blue thumb:

I found that the seating in the Volvo was much better for my bad back so have stuck with Volvo ever since (over 40 years).

Then moved through the 240 series up to the S80 (current car) and eight years into my fifth Volvo. I usually keep them for 10 years (one was written off by a drunken idiot!) as they still feel like new for all that time. Apart from the annual service I've never had to change any parts apart from tyres and windscreen wipers. The service costs me £90 plus parts and VAT - and MOT. :)

Currently driving my third BMW Mini:

before that I had a Peugeot 206cc - but it had loads of electrical problems so only had it a year:

        Before that I drove:
        Mini Cooper S
        Renault Clio
Before that my first BMW Mini, it was the second Cooper off the production line, I ordered it about 18 months before they started making them. This photo was taken for "Which" magazine, we appeared in an article about the new Mini and they wanted opinions from the first owners :)

Here's a couple of my proper classic Minis from the 60s, I owned about 6 or 7 - varying from the basic Morris Mini Minor 850 to full Rally Spec Cooper S:

I've also had this for about 20 years in the 80/90s:

Plus a few Triumphs and Jags as well as more mundane company cars likes Austins, Morris and Fords :)

Currently driving a Subaru Impreza WRX Sports Wagon, affectionately known as the skate board. Love it as it's permanent 4 wheel drive/corners like a dream and goes quite quickly:). Does have rather a big bonnet air vent (what I call a nostril:)) which makes it look a bit chavvy so my grey hair doesn't quite "go" but don't care!
          Previous cars,
Range Rover Discovery (hated with a passion as wobbled round corners and zero guts but was excellent at towing which is why I had it).
          Volvo 740 estate ok
Volvo 740 GLT estate (best car ever, the T in GLT made an incredible difference. Easily could have qualified for "go faster stripes" and often left the nodding dice brigade open mouthed as what looked like a very sedate boring car was anything but.
Volvo 240 estate. Built like a Sherman tank and you could carry loads of stuff in it (many hefty visits to garden centres!)
Sierra Cosworth, bit too quick for my standard of driving so sold it before I wrapped it round a tree and the insurance was hideous.
Various Minis all loved and adored. 1 was Cooper S which was great fun and much easier to drive than what I progressed onto!

age 16 years old. bought my first car, it was a Chevy Malibu (blue), that lasted me for many years, then bought a Vega (brown), then a Camaro that lasted me about 12 years, then a Hyundi (gray) then a Nissan (white) then a Forrester (green) and the worse car I have ever had. Today now I have a Toyota SUV (blue) and love it. I try to keep my cars at least 10 years. I learned to drive with a shift, so my Hyundi was a stick shift, not an issue.

I guess I should add, presently we have other cars on our property, a older Vet, and a Chevy nova for racing, and a truck to pull the trailer -to pull the racing car to races. And my husbands car a Nissan. Oh, yes and a 1952 cadillac in a garage.

I get it, a car to me should get me from A to B safely, and keep me warm in the winter. And has very little issues. I like selecting a car that is not one someone would want to steal also.

so true, redstar. I took my licence only a few years ago and I can honestly say that for what I have experienced so far, the reliability of a car comes well above anything else. About the not to steal part: if somebody takes mine the alternator will probably go after a couple of hours so I will find it safe and sound :imphrt: [IMG]

For me, my selection of the "type" of car has a lot to do with me being female. I am going to make sure it is reliable. Also with the winters here, there is that to consider.
