    Had a very nice cauliflower cheese for tea this evening, made with the first of my winter caulis from the garden. :)

    I happened to mention to Mrs Trunky yesterday evening that a couple of them were ready, so I was instructed to cut one before I went to work this morning.

    Trouble is, it's still dark when I leave home. So first thing this morning found me poking about under the pigeon netting with a knife and a torch, trying not to get tangled up, doing lots of grunting and generally making a right performance of what should have been a simple task.

    It certainly set the neighbour's dog off anyway, he wasn't expecting that when he wandered down the garden for his early morning ablutions. :biggrin:

      You're lucky the police weren't called :heehee:

      I used home picked onions, garlic, herbs and chillies in my chicken casserole with home grown Italian plum tomatoes from the freezer, and fresh apples in my crumble. :dbgrtmb:

        Chard & spring onion - technically, haven't eaten them yet.

        Apparently, some people eat chard raw but I prefer them stir-fried or wilted in a light broth soup.

        As for spring onions: half inch diagonally sliced and dipped in soy sauce. I can easily get through three or four in one go.

          We snip folded leaves into fine strips using scissors and use in salads, Pup gets the stems, mainly it's grown as greens for our hens.

          We are eating (from the allotment): Parsnips, Sprouts, Cabbages and Potatoes - from my home plot we are still working our way slowly through the giant onions, most of which we froze. Yesterday we tried the dried tomatoes I made during the summer, they were delicious, bursting with flavour - rehydrated with boiling water and a bit of vinegar.
