On our Tesco counters, it was like a disease. There was at least one person off on maternity leave after the other. I fell pregnant after 2 other girls a year after starting on there.

Ooh Woo you had a telling off there! I wish I liked beetroot!

Back to grub, I finished off my lovely homemade (barbequed, not burnt) Tomato soup

@Linz Woo and myself go back a very long way on here so he should know that I am not telling him off,as I was replying to his post the other week about eating low carb foods whereas I said you can eat spuds, bread and rice as long as the spuds are the new sort and the bread and rice are of the brown sort i.e. Granary bread which is what I eat.Metformin tablets are the number one drug for Type2's and can aid in weight loss and lower HbA1c levels as Woo and myself has found out:smile:

@"M" it was the way you wrote your post and the way I interpreted it that made me chuckle.According to Wikipedia, different types of Roe are fish eggs but some of them are encased in the ovaries, hence some are called soft and hard Roe.I have never been a fish lover and couldn't even walk through our local fish market without gagging at the smell:snorky:

Unfortunately @Linz no amount of sitting on certain chairs, was going to help us in the children stakes due to hormone problems with me and Mr Kandy being a heavy chain smoker messed him up as well, although we did have the same treatment to start with that the Waltons had (6 girls and no John Boy in sight:snorky:)but it wasn't meant to be:sad:

Ahh I see. Didn't realise you had diabetes too. And I'm sorry to hear that @Kandy :grphg: my friends are just starting IVF after trying for the last 5 years, she also has hormonal problems and he's a heavy smoker too

Try "Milts" ... that will give a far better description of what "herring roe" is ;)

I've been rather indulgent, and naughty, with my dinners since I got back from holiday.

The other night I had rack of lamb (not too bad at £4.02) with roast potatoes, cabbage and spicy rice. The following night I had sirloin steak (8oz @ £3.09 from Aldi), Jacket potato, mixed veggies (French beans, flat beans, carrots and broccoli) finished in butter and the rest of the spicy rice. Last night I was being good and just had some home made chicken soup and tonight I had roast beef (£5.79 per kg in Bookers) with roast potatoes and cauli.

Tomorrow night I shall be making a Naga lamb curry (lamb on special offer at Sainsbury's at £5.99 boned leg of lamb - in our freezer) and I have some salt beef on the go that should be ready sometime next week (I only use brisket for that as it's the best for making salt beef although it's the cheapest cut).

Evening meals are always followed by fresh fruit. :dbgrtmb:

Tonight we are having homemade cottage pie (from the freezer) with veg.
I'm hoping to have time to make some chicken & hampies to freeze over the weekend

We have just had a nice gammon steak each with round chips peas, carrots and Brussels sprouts and Mr Kandy has had a pear for afters.Didnt think to take a photo of it either:doh: but the rabid cat enjoyed the rind that I cut off of mine:biggrin:

@Lynz tell your friends that if the husband/partner can pack up smoking it will definetley help.Mr Kandy lasted half a day without a puff on his pipe and then he was straight back on it and he wasn't going to pack it in until he was ready:sad: The wife/partner needs to be on Metformin combined with Clomid/Clomaphene(Not sure of this word but it was just known as Clomid thirty odd years ago) This combination can have a great success rate if the ladies have hormonal problems.I read about it in a Woman's magazine as Metformin was only just coming onto the market at the time for Diabetes use,but I couldn't pluck up the courage being shy to ask my specialist as in those days infertility treatment was rather hit or miss so to speak.I do hope your friends get the little baby they so desire:fingers crossed:

@"M" I am such a plonker as I have just Googled Milt and see that it is the seminal fluid of male fish.:yikes: I should have known that as I have seen enough wildlife programmes with Salmon fish farms and they show you how they get the "Milt" from out of the male fish to add to the females eggs.I had never heard of it regarded as Roe though:scratch:

I've recently got an Instant Pot (pressure cooker and slow cooker) and completely love it. I work long hours and it helps cut down cooking time when at home!

Last week I cooked duck legs and then made shredded duck and hoi-sin wraps (with cucumber, celery and spring onion) with the left overs. I made chorizo quesadillas for dinner last night with chorizo which came from Spain, and this morning I have made rice pudding (for the freezer) and later on there will be some mackerel for tea as it looked very fresh this morning!

Tonight was going to be Liver & Bacon ... but the liver didn't look/smell quite right, but, I had already sautéed the onions and bacon ... :noidea:

                                ... :think2:...

... found a tin of corned beef in the store cupboard, opened it, chopped it up, threw it in with the bacon and onions, added some tomatoes and called it: Hash! :snooty:

Quite tasty with a fresh salad :heehee:
