Sausage, beans and a couple of leftover spuds reheated from last night, all smothered in tomato ketchup. Really couldn't be bothered cooking today. But was still nice :).

I had some homemade chicken noodle soup, a lamb chump chop (local butcher/lamb on offer at £10 kg) with boiled spuds, cauli and mushrooms. That was followed by apple crumble (home grown apples.)

Last night was "Ready, steady, cook" night! I was given chicken breast mini fillets, baby chorizo, sweet red peppers, basil and french beans. From the store cupboard I took baby Toms, onions, garlic, courgette and onion seed.
Sweated the toms, onion and garlic with a pinch of salt and splash of Balsamic vinegar before adding the other ingredients (except the basil which is added right at the end). Served with potato cubes coated in smoked paprika and then fried and crusty buttered bread.

Managed to get a very nice sirloin steak in Asda, on offer. Cost £3.50 and good for two meals :blue thumb:

I had homemade spicy lentil soup (made half a gallon) and then pan fried the steak and accompanied it with lightly spiced Basmati rice and stir fried white cabbage. Cabbage was stir fried with a hint of garlic, chili, and some cumin seeds and finished with a little touch of chicken stock. I put the lid on the wok, off the gas, whilst serving steak and rice - which gave the cabbage just a minute or two to soften slightly in the steam from the stock.

Mixed mushrooms Pad Ga Prao with rice.
Pad Ga Prao was a favourite of mine in a tiny Thai restaurant in Amsterdam so when I saw this in my local Asian shop today I had to buy it. £3.35 on Amazon, the exact same thing was 70pence in my local Asian shop!
It has a spicy, slightly bitter and slightly sour taste. Very aromatic! Hard to describe really.

Nice rump steak from Tesco - just bought one between the two of us. Our own roast King Teds, carrots and sprouts.
Mrs W usually cooks steak to death as she can't stand pink but today she did it beautifully:blue thumb:

I cheated last night. The 99p shop sells two of these for 99p.......................
                DSC_1934.jpg

Cooked as per the jar, but I used less chicken and added b/nut squash, courgette and red pepper. Plus a couple of slices of scotch bonnet! Served with basmati rice with asparagus and green sprouting.
It's one sauce that I would happily recommend.

Tonight was another Ready, Steady, Cook night. This time it had a "cleaning up" theme - she took some chicken breasts, blanched broccolli and bacon lardons from the freezer and some leeks from the pantry. I was allowed to use anything else that was opened and needed using so I added some Shropshire Blue, mushrooms (a bit slimey, but tasty), half a pot of double cream and some sprouting spuds!

We ended up with chicken, bacon and mushrooms (plus the broccolli for colour) in a creamy sauce. I added a good handful of chopped parsley from the freezer and some onion seed. Served with potato, leek and blue cheese mash.
