Awww thanks Victoria. I guess it depends how much time I have, so at least now I could try both. Yours and LongK's.
I don't live on a boat :heehee:, I was referring to a kitchen foil boat!! :blue thumb:

I am interesting in Shiney ones crumble, if no added sugar :)
Although I would only have a big dessert as a treat occassionally.

We don't use sugar or any of the other sugar options (diabetic concerns). If something needs sweetening we use Stevia (without any artificial sweeteners in it).

The 'crumble' topping is crunchy but not the same as having butter and sugar mixed in it. We sometimes use oats but most of the time we make up a mix with ground almonds, chopped nuts, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds. There are other seeds that can be used as well. This can be done with or without butter/sugar. We just sprinkle it on the top (without butter/sugar) and put in the oven.

We also prefer trout :blue thumb:

      Uhhh..........are you alive!:heehee:

      :thud::yikes::gaah:

For gods sake stop fretting about dying and start living!!
Seriously though, I have a low resting heart rate, good lung capacity, super low cholesterol. The only blot is my low blood pressure which I've suffered all my life and runs in my Mums family, but on the plus side they all lived a long time (despite being smokers like me). I eat obscene amounts of cheese and only ever use butter but I balance it out with plenty of tomatoes, chilli, garlic and ginger. Lots of salad greens, beans and pulses, fruit and veg. Avoid processed/ready made food. My great Grandad and Grandma were 93 when they shuffled off despite having what they wanted when they wanted. Bread and dripping sandwiches were the staple of his lunchbox for his days down the coal mines. The secret is to be active for eight hours a day in my opinion.
Please take that in the spirit in which it was intended.

I just soak Basmati rice for a few hours. Cooks in three or four minutes, light and fluffy as you like!

Me too, especially for fried eggs and mushrooms (I usually add a little butter for them though). @NorthantsGeezer I don't think that there is much to choose healthwise between a good sunflower oil and olive oil. Another good alternative is rapeseed oil.

It's ok @longk, I rarely get offended. I am too laid back and chilled out for that :)

I think when you know you have furred arteries, it opens your eyes to your 'status'.
I had the 'living' attitude before the heart attack, but now I 'have' to take care of myself, even if only out of respect for the surgeon and medical team who really 'do' care.
As for active 8 hours a day.....I am up at 6:30ish and home after 7 (or later), so no problem there :snork:
My mum and dad both had the bread and dripping sandwiches covered in salt (me too). Dad died at 59 from a heart attack, and mum had all kinds of problems.

Home made mac 'n' cheese tonight, with a bit of smoked sausage on the side. Proper comfort food.

Fish and chips - not readily available in France unless I make my own so an occasional treat when I'm in the UK. And it really was a treat tonight
