    I agree @NorthantsGeezer it does taste different, it was my fave soup as a child, I called it foxtail soup back then! :heehee:

          I cooked homemade Turkey with a ginger, coconut and garlic sauce,
          roast potatoes, roast parsnips and carrots, for dessert, a Sicilian lemon cheesecake.:yes:

            No sponsorship I'm afraid :noidea: I just gave up wine for a few weeks.

            Last night we had chicken in black bean sauce, peppers, onions, mushrooms & noodles....delicious :dbgrtmb:

              I think we are quite a creative lot :thumbsup:, so much for the 'so called' experts that say
              the public do not cook proper meals mid week. :th scifD36:

              I do try to make meals from scratch every evening, mind you some
              preparation is done during the morning to save time later. :stirpot:

              So, well done everyone, give yourselves a pat on the back. :yes:

                Bit of a last minute-thrown-together effort tonight (spent the day out and about, then the afternoon at the Flicks to see "Spectre". So: jacket potato, oven baked swordfish steak with steamed peas and corn.
                Only seasoned the swordfish with basic S&P, splash of lemon juice and olive oil; wrapped it in foil and for the last few minutes opened the foil to let it brown off. Scrummy!

                  Tonight we had left over chicken in black bean sauce with rice...I can't stand wasted food!

                  @liliana I love your post,I believe most people eat a supermarket prepared meal most nights, personally I don't like them because they taste too salty to me, yes occasionally we do have to resort to them but I never feel satisfied once I've eaten them. I like to cook batches of meals especially this time of year, then I just freeze them, that way I always have some good quality homemade meals for the week, it's far cheaper to buy the ingredients & cook from scratch too in my opinion :dbgrtmb:

                    I know that many will disagree with my next statement though. "I just don't get time".
                    I have seen many on here say that it is a rubbish statement.
                    My alarm goes off at 6am, or before in the winter, and I get home at 7pm (shattered).
                    When I had my stent fitted last year, I was off work for 8 weeks. I cooked all fresh meals, and felt fantastic. I knew it would all go to pot when I started working again, which it did.
                    I do cook at the weekends though if possible (usually out and about though), and I freeze the meals (Lasagne, Tuna pasta bake, Shepherds pie made with turkey mince...healthier, etc etc).
                    Some of the meals still use packets or jars though :sad:. I would much rather cook for 2 than just me. Less food wastage.
                    Anyway, tonight its Salmon and some roast potatoes :biggrin:. I am trying to use up what is in the freezer so that I can defrost it. I do my own roast spuds now though. Mastered them :dbgrtmb:. :dbgrtmb:

                            homemade chicken pot pie. used left over roasted chicken, mix veggies, whitesauce with turkey broth and Old bay instead of salt and pepper.

                              image.jpeg As there are only fifty odd days until Crimbo day I have had a practise run and cooked a nice piece of turkey breast joint with carrots,peas,cauliflower,roast potatoes,runner beans and peas.Also did a nice home made Yorkshire pudding and served it up with a nice splodge of turkey gravy.After all they say the way to a mans heart is through his tum:snork:
