My famous kitchen rebuild is on its last bit. They announced this morning that they were going to put down something called 'scree' (or is that screed?) and we cannot use the kitchen for dinner this evening.

So we decide on take-away. We have now had it, having decided on an early night. We went for some donner kebabs, but it turned out the guy behind the counter was an ex patient and he decided to thank me. We both had so much donner meat and salad we are bloated. Ed had some of the remains and even he has given up. Anybody want to buy about 8 pounds of dog licked donner meat? Oh plus some fairly fresh salad? And they say there is no gratitude. :D [IMG]

I'll be clinging to your hub, Cutie, I love donner kebab ...

We went out for lunch today with friends from the UK who have a place here and only come now and then (he is an ex-colleague of mine) and we went to our "local" ... I had "veado" stew which comes with fried potatoes, rice (yes, they eat both together here) and salad, along with the olives, bread and butter and goat's cheese with pumpkin marmalade (exquisite). Veado is deer which I swore I would never eat ... I had it because t'other half got confused ordering in Portuguese as I was just have the goat's cheese thingy and the other three were having the "veado" but it would have been too embarrassing to send it back so I sceptically put a few pieces on my plate ... it was exquisite also ... I was so shocked ... but I did not eat anything else but the salad and goat's cheese thingies. :D

LoL - Mrs W won't eat Bambi meat either! I rather like it though.
I'd calamari in batter with cheesy baked potato for tea. And coming soon there'll be octopus stifado cos' when we were buying the squid
we spotted a whole octopus for just under £3. Popped it in the freezer to tenderise for a day or so while we source some baby onions.

John - don't bin the remains - there's always breakfast to think about [IMG]

Oh, Dave, even though I said veado was exquisite. it was but after my first sampling you have now really put me off eating Bambi again. Thank you so much and I wouldn't entertain for a moment ... or even a nanosecond what you had ... [IMG] ...

Shall I become a vegetarian eating the occasional tinned tuna or salmon (can't abide fresh) salad with some corned beef (again tinned) and chicken breasts which I can cope with fresh. ???? :D

Venison is a great meat - very low in fat and if cooked properly is tender and very tasty and if it's wild venison it hasn't been fed on offal like much 'cultivated' meat has.
Squid I can take or leave - it's difficult to get it just right and often it's like chewing a leather boot lace. Octopus is entirely different - it can be very tender if cooked properly and there are many different ways of serving it. Hot/cold-pickled - Yum.
Mrs W wouldn't think about eating octopus, but a couple of years ago in a taverna in Greece I had some pickled octopus in a mixed salad and offered her a bite - 'Guess what this is?'. She liked it and guessed 'village sausage'. After I told her what it was she wouldn't eat any more - despite liking the taste.
Must be a female thing about 'tentacles' :D

Haha death on a plate for me Dave!

Very allergic to seafood. The only thing that doesnt affect me i've found is the small amount of anchovy in Lea + Perrins. And i once got quite poorly from a posh chinese that didn't use just flavouring on their prawn crackers... serves me right for having faith in the little greasy chinese take away and comparing it to nice restaurants! :3

I loves my carrot and ginger soup. Virtually no calories or saturated fat, or at least its no WW points! So i make loads of it at a go and eat it through the week.
    Nomnom.

Might put it on recipes section.
