Virol..........hhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmm I will google it. I remember my cousins had something like it on their dummies and I (apparently) used to pinch their dummies and suck it off!

It was a herby kind of flavour but sweet, and it had a strong smell.

Lol, if I were to list the whole series of italian mistakes we would still be here at judjement day, and miss the angels calling.

Miraflores, I will forgive you for liking cotechino, I have a few perversions myself, lol.
I can get many of my regional specialities here (at criminal prices and lesser quality, but ya well). SOmething tat I cannot find is the Salame di Felino (mentioned earlier), that is not made of cat, just comes from a place called Felino. That is the very taste of home.Mom is coming to visit next week and bringing one, yupppy!!!! I would have liked her to bring 20 :D but since she is coming by motorbike ( I have a Tom-Mom) that is not possible. No problem I will fill the car this winter :D

fresh bananas and pineapples ....straight from the fields. The bananas I buy now taste good but never as good as what I have tasted.
Mangoes, straight from the tree. never bought a single mango when I lived in Kenya.
tomatoes...we used to buy them from the roadside sellers. they tasted and smelt of tomatoes and you could smell the sun :) in them.
cucumbers- little ridged cucumbers that you ate with a pinch of salt.
    the milk from fresh coconuts
    fresh sugarcane
molasses from the sugarcane factory (with all the bits in it !!!)
    honey by the bucket-load

Mum used to buy plum jam in tins (It came from South Africa) and we used to think we were so posh eating this jam....forgetting that Mum always made guava jam, pineapple jam, hundresds of different types of pickles. Funny how kids like ready made food and processed food.

the other thing we used to like was Carnation condensed milk on white pappy (yuk) bread.

and fresh vegetables too numerous to mention...all of whihc I can still get but I can't get that taste back.

My father used to get a gallon of milk from the local dairy and when you boiled the milk, the skin on it was almos a 1/4" thick. I used to like drinking milk then.....not so now.

When feeding the cattle as kids we used to nibble the cow cake - (it's not a Desperate Dan type thing) it was (is) fed to cows and was a brown pellet made with molasses, so very sweet, I could only manage one or two at a time!

Also used to have the odd dogs biscuit but they were a bit dry - taste a bit like a babies rusk!
