I hate it when you go to use the watering can and no water comes out because you know who is up the spout...:eeew:

I actually read somewhere (and I think it has been posted on GC in past times) that if you throw a snail 'over the garden wall' it will return to it's home ... ie, your garden ... :noidea:

I agree with the method, BUT, take it from me, they CAN swim. Drop a couple in the middle of a large pot of water (12" min) and after they catch their breath (!) see them climbing up the sides !!!

The only sure way, is collect them up, break the shells (rugby up and unders do good), and let them land in as much open space as you can, our feathered friends will enjoy the meal.

Might sound cruel, but they show my plants no mercy, so eye for an eye and all that. They are quicker moving than my plants too, so have an unfair advantage ........:roflol:

SLUGS, they meet Mr Chopper, these sneaky devils can attack from below, should I see and catch one (getting older now), it is quickly despatched, the only mercy I show.

So how is that working out for you?

I was up early this morning and caught two snails on their way home from a night shift on my newly planted pea shoots. I put them on the compost heap as I was half asleep and I struggle to kill anything. If this becomes an ongoing problem, I'm going to collect them in a tupperware container and relocate them to the local wildlife reserve.
