Oh come on Walnut think how much income tax would have to rise if the government lost all the taxes it gains from road travel. Perhaps a £1000 per year tax on owning a cycle?:hehe: And I would be out of work for a start, it wouldn't be worth my while going if I had to use public transport.
Pete said, I have an idea why not have a second home near your work and put it on expenses maybe you could have two gardens (this could catch on). Why not anything to help the government out.:hehe:
I like the expenses for a second home Walnut, I'm sure thats a novel idea that could well catch on if given a chance.:D I'm just wondering on the £1000 per year tax on bikes though,...... I mean where would you stick the tax disc?
Blimey, there are a few views here! I agree with what was said, putting it in proportion, there are as many bad bike drivers as there are bad car drivers. I'm sure we all see them (notice I don't count us as amongst them, lol). I remember many, many years ago (where's the old man/woman smilie ) that along a long road a bike was coming up behind, not much traffic on the road so I moved over to the left to let him know I'd seen him and was aware he was going to overtake. This motorbiker put his hand up in acknowledgement when he overtook to show his appreciation! I always remember that. But then, I'm getting on abit and was brought up (not literally, lol) in cars/lorries with my dad who always showed courtesy. The holding up of the hand, and/or finger, (no not the naughty one!) to show thanks, was one of the first things I used on passing my test and it's suprising how much better just that little thing can make you feel better. As for the government (not just this one) using any road user as an easy income - don't get me started!!! cheers
