Don't use Royal Mail, you could send a fair few in a medium cardboard box for about £4.50 with Hermes or Collect+. Pots are light but bulky and RM charges heavily for bulk. You'd have to check the requirement but it's usually something like less than 2kg (that's a lot of pots) in a box with dimensions adding to less than 2 metres for about £4.50 if you go with a carrier.

That's about £4.50 more than I would want anyone to pay! :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

They'd probably go even quicker if you put a sign up "Penny a pot" and leave a few pennies in a container. You're unlikely to get much money but the pots would disappear! :heehee:

People prefer to get something that has a value on it, however small.

Many years ago I put a wheelbarrow full of apples on the front with a sign that said 'Help Yourself'. After three days virtually nothing had gone. So I bagged them up and changed the sign to 'Apples 10p a bag' and they all went within six hours!

Depending on where you live the pennies would be gone before the pots!

That's why I said 'a few pennies'. :heehee:

          Your probably right about that!

At our local allotments we have a little table at the top of the lane, we put surplus plants/pots/produce there with an honesty box. Monies collected go to a local charity (we raised around £50 last year), but last week someone stole the money box, there would have been no more than a couple of quid in it but it was still stolen.

We are fairly rural here, less than a thousand people live in this village and where the box was stolen from, only a very small amount of dog walkers pass it by. Such a shame this happens nowadays.

          Steve...:)

I finally got rid of all of the pots I wanted rid of today.

I've been clearing my bed in my front garden and decided to dig up and pot on some foxgloves that had self seeded in the pots I wanted rid of.

I then left these potted foxgloves in the front and then put up a sign saying "free foxglove plants please help yourself".

It took two days for all 15 plants to go but they have all gone and I feel like I've done a good deed at the same time.

I'm just hoping no one will bring them back now!

If that's all you have left you'll be needing some more!

Like the idea of that. I spend ages putting other peoples unsolicited crap into other peeps pre paid envelopes and posting them.

After a whole day! Is Essex too posh for freegle - around here if it's been on for five minutes it's gone.

Back on topic - I reuse mine plus anymore that I can blag off Freegle.

I'll give it another week or so and pay my local amenity site a visit as we are allowed to recycle anything there. They have a large bin set aside for plant pots and trays that I'll go through and take what I need. At this time people are buying bedding plants, so I'll be popping in every week or so to see what I can pick up. :)
