            I'll 2nd that!

            Actually, I cast a packet of seeds over a piece of bare border last Autumn ... well, several packets of seeds actually :redface: they were past their "Sow By" dates ... and in the last couple of days had to ask for an ID on the one which was positively thriving: sweet William it is :thumbsup: But, they are "biennials" so, sow one year (as I did last Autumn) and they will flower the next (this year :hapydancsmil: ). Will post pictures when mine flower this year :blue thumb:

              They are actually perennials, but start deteriorating after 2nd year, so are normally treated as if biennials.

              The saved seed I've sown this year must be at least 5 years old but I've still got good germination by using heated propagators. The seeds were saved from plants grown using Lidl double bloom Sweet Williams, but they don't sell them any more.

              But beware of leaving cut blooms for too long in vases, or you'll find out why they're also known as 'Stinking Billy'.
