Fuggles, it is not Barberry ( Berberis ). It IS Pernettya, aka Gaultheria. It is Poisonous, and is ONLY grown for decoration. Benacre, be careful on what plants you advise on.:thumb:

okay, forget that plant, i found a new one in my local park in Liverpool.

Its orangish and it doesnt look like its still alive, but what is it and is it edible. Sort of pea sized. My first guess was phylasis, cape gooseberry , maybe ?

please double click the pictures for an enlarged view , and then click on it again

What's your interest fuggles? Are you looking for something to plant in your own garden or trying to find stuff to eat for free? I recall that Riverscottage TV chef Hugh Fernely something or other and an initative in one town to find and use apples growing untended - the fruit would otherwise have gone to waste - it seemed like a good idea to me.

Those last pictures look like Lords and Ladies - Arum Italicum (see David, I'm using Latin now as well!). They can produce allergic reactions - another one not to eat.

Yes, it could very easily be the Iris Vicky as there are the long strappy leaves in Fuggles' photo too..!

I agree on the Iris, and yes, it is poisonous. Aaron well done on the Latin:gnthb::lollol:What threw you on the recognition, I think, was the Ivy leaves.:hehe::D
