They do, survived being in sub zero temps all winter, just like I have :old:

Well, after nearly a year on GC :spinning:, I can honestly say GC is absolutely great as are it's members :grphg:. I don't have a lot to say about my garden at the moment as to be honest it would be rather boring... I am in the back ground plotting and planning on what I am going to be doing and have started some of my little projects which I will share with my GC friends when I need help and advice :help:

This winter has been so terrible with the flooding, storms and winds etc. its been lovely to join friends on here to lighten an otherwise dull day... I've had laughs :lunapic 130165696578242 5: and read debates  and its all been interesting stuff :) ..... I agree with @Beckie76 and @Sheal ... it's up to the individual if they want to read, join in or add something... in my opinion... it keeps us all in touch during the winter months..... Just Brilliant :) ..... :wub2:

.....And you're already part and parcel of the GC community @Apple Blossom. :)

The type written word is the only way we can communicate here so it follows that it is the only way we can interact and learn from others. Also we have the opportunity to make new friends and share more personal moments.

Hmmm, I've just thought! The type written word isn't the only way to communicate here. There has been conversation in the past, albeit stinted, using only smileys. :heehee:

I've only been lurking here a few weeks, but even I appreciate the friendliness around here. It's nice to see people greeting each other in the mornings, and talking about the weather (which has hardly been regularly conducive to full days of gardening yet!), and sharing snapshots and the like.

I'm part of other forums that have been around as long (if not longer? I don't know) than GC, but they're just kind of held together through internet "muscle memory" these days. No one's anywhere near as nice to each other there as they are here. So appreciate it for what it is, 'cos you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone!

((I mean, the games topics arenae really my thing either, but it's easy enough not to click on them. :th scifD36: ))

Oh really? You are of course entitled to your opinion but there is always one moaner who would like to ruin it for others. I would just like to point out that that games forum exists for people to use - that's why it's there.

There are members here who know why I come onto this forum and also play the games. I just want to say thank you for your support. You all rock! :dbgrtmb: ;) :) And guess what....I'm going to continue to play the games as long as others want to play with me! :spinning:

Well @pam as you request! I use Tricoflex yellow hose. I bought quite a lot of it (about 100 yds) over 25, yup 25, years ago and it's still going strong. The majority of it stays outside throughout the winter so regularly gets completely frozen. We use it in the winter to keep the horse's trough topped up. A few sections have been split over the years but very few despite it being driven over a fair number of times/been dragged about on driveways etc. Even at it's vast age it's still more pliable than new cheap stuff and therefore easy to attach connectors to it. Mine is so old now it's dulled down to quite a fetching pale yellow but new stuff is quite bright but good for reducing the likelihood of tripping over it. I reckon my hose will "see me out" as my granny used to say. Only reservation would be that I don't know if the products the company sells today are as good as they used to be? You'll no doubt be able to get it on the net. I got mine from a wholesale horticultural industry supplier who was happy to sell it to me.

Primarily, I believe we all do @Redwing :) To be fair, while the games are a nice distraction while waiting for the gardening topics to be posted/replied to/refreshed, I don't think anyone comes here for the games :heehee: There are better games to be had elsewhere if that were the case :heehee:

A fair observation too and I can see how it may be frustrating if that is predominantly what you are seeing when you log in when you wish to catch up with gardening topics.

I first came GC because I had a quarter acre of garden, a brand new playground, which I wanted to put my own footprint onto and didn't know where to start. I don't have that garden now nor do I have as many questions, or, others ask what I just happen to also wish to know about. I don't have extensive knowledge on anything to respond to many posts on the gardening front, but, where I can, I share what I know (and always happy to be corrected if I've get it wrong).

But gardening knowledge can be had from many sources, so, I think it is fair to say that it is not the *only* reason I keep coming back. It is much more than that. A good few people on here I consider to be my friends and without GC, I would never have known/met them. The games arena was one area where banter crept in and bonds were formed particularly during those periods when not much else of interest (to me) was going on elsewhere on the forum and I learned a good few new words too (all polite!) :heehee:

Gardening and a few new words are not the only things I've learned here:-
                              • I have learned new recipes (not garden related).
                              • I've been inspired to attempt new crafts (not garden related)
                              • I've been introduced to genres of music I would never have come across
                              • I've had my faith in human nature restored at a time when it was most needed
                              • I've had spontaneous belly laughs which have instantly lifted me from the edge of a dark hole
                              • I've felt irritated by some posts (and some posters too: hey, I'm human!) and probably done the same in reverse.
                              • I've blocked users who (without meaning to) just rub me up the wrong way because I recognise that it is my issue and not theirs.
                              • I avoid certain discussions because I know myself enough to know I cannot be objective
                              • I have met and visited some wonderful people who really make my heart smile
So, overall, although gardening invited me in here, it is not enough, on its own, to have kept me here (I'd go to the library). If it was only gardening ...

.... then I would take my donations elsewhere :paladin:

:goodpost:...spot on! Plus I bought a Panasonic breadmaker due to recommendations on here plus a steam mop and other bits and bobs for the home as well as the garden.
