What I Don't Get.................

I have no idea how websites work on phones (as I don't have a phone) but under normal circumstances I come on to GC through my bookmark for 'Watched Threads'. Then, if I have any alerts, they pop up by the 'Alerts' tab - as a drop down. I don't bother to open the tab but open the individual threads in 'open new tab'.

I open any 'Conversations' that pop up in my 'Inbox' in the same manner.

I don't know if it's possible to do that on a phone.

@JWK John, although I never go to the 'Home' page (or 'Forums') I can see where you may have a problem reading the 'stickies'. On my screen they're in a pale orange colour.

 

Hi Anthony, I rarely use my phone to access any forum, just this minute tried and I see the same as you, i.e. no 'Likes'. So it's obviously an issue with the mobile version of the site, not just you

I wonder if a forum app such as Tapatalk might be better?

 

Strangely on my phone those 'stickies' are orange too and slightly more readable for my eyes

 

I can't find Tapatalk in the Store so they must have dropped it for my phone (Windows). If you are on Android it may be available.

Sorry to keep repeating this but if the 'Home' page is meant to be attracting new members then the issue of the strange numbers needs to be solved. I had another look right now and see this:




The numbers 0, 3 0, 0 give a false impression that this site isn't well used. If you actually click on the thread "Tatties 2017" there are plenty of 'Likes'. So whatever the intention, the label is incorrect. Just get rid of that column, it serves no purpose (who is interested in 'Likes'?) and is incorrect anyway. They clutter up the page with distracting meaningless information.

 

I thought I had made that point earlier but see that I haven't . It's an unnecessary column and confusing.

 

Are they mutually exclusive?

Answer for @Redwing the only honest answer I can give you, is I have no idea as a Moderator my task is only to moderate to the best of my ability,decisions concerning the forum as a whole will be the @Webmaster's decision

 

Nothing 'Fake' about the Homepage, the Homepage is there as the old forum page was the landing page for Google..... When you load the forum page, there is a huge volume of information, for everytime this is loaded, it is slowing down the forum for everyone.

If the issue is with the 'Homepage', the easiest solution is to BOOKMARK the new forum extension url :- Gardeners Corner - The Friendly Gardening Forum , save that link, and it will be exactly how you are used to GC looking

As for the Homepage, it is used to help GC rank higher, ranking higher usually means more visitors/members, by the Homepage being quicker to load, helps massively.

The Homepage isn't completely finished yet either, so all comments are welcome on making it look slicker.
