Great Woo. I haven't seen many dragonflies this year yet, but did see the first Southern Hawker flit by, just as I was hanging the wash out and, of course, no camera ready to shoot.

I had more luck with the Hoverflies. Saw some yesterday on our Chinese Anenome -

Common Carder Bee Bombus pascuorum rescued exhausted from the polytunnel.

A little honey which he feeds on soon builds his energy and gets him on his way.
Note the tongue out of his proboscis which moved rapidly taking in the honey.

Amazing close ups Kedi:gnthb:, can't get that close with my camera.:(

I have just found out today that the Marsh Harriers nesting here at Radipole RSPB Reserve have 3 young which have left the nest and are flying around.
This is the first brood in Dorset for 50 years and the first in the UK in an urban area.:gnthb:

Spotted this Southern aeshna hawker dragonfly in my garden today, a bit further north than one would expect to see this species

    Fantastic shots, Pip! :gnthb:

I just love dragon- and damselflies, and these magnificent Hawkers are my favourites. Lucky you to catch such wonderful close-ups.
