[IMG] Saw these while we were away. I have yet to ID the beetles & I have no idea about the plant either.. Yes I know..! My friend said they always called them milk plants.... So far have found nothing.. The seed pods are about 3-4" long. Will google again later, but thought I would share them now.... [IMG]

Super ladybird pix, GW. You have got the texture and shine just perfect and really mastered depth of field.

Hi Marley F your beetles could be sexton beetles also known as grave digging beetles. Apparently they lay they eggs in dead animals they will even pull bits off and drag the piece to their hole and bury it to provide food for the hatched babies.

Reckon you are correct Celia. Sexton beetles, like earwigs, are excellent mothers and one of the very few insects that stay with their young and feed them partially digested food. Isn't mother-love wonderful!

This chappie 'thumbed' a lift from me today.
    Believe it or not..
I held my hand up as it flew by and it settled on my thumb. I walked 30 yards to my van to get my camera with it sitting as you see it,one picture and it went on it's way! [IMG]
