[IMG] I have finally found out what the bugs are in the picture. Had some help from my friends in my insect group.!! They are seed bugs & they are called Milkweed bugs, or Oncopeltus sp...! I even found a pic too for a positive ID. [IMG]
It would look like my photo is of a group of nymphs & to have moulted to adult is what is thought..
And... the plant is a milkweed plant!!! Have a look at this link.. Pretty spectacular..!!!

Now then HB. what have we got over here that is a similar plant??? If any.. That's what I would like to know.... [IMG]

Well done for idenitfying them Marley. It would make more sense seeing as how you photographed them on a leay rather than near a hole. I think that the milk weed plant is amazing.

These are the two I caught on camera today ... I think the first is the Swallowtail minus one tail and haven't had time to look up the white one yet, maybe someone knows?

I do envy you the swallowtail. The "bee thingy" is a hoverfly of some sort, I think

I thought so too, Hornbeam, but am not clued up on these flying citters. [IMG]

I've now discovered the Swallowtails are "common" ha! They are so HUGE as well! Do you know what this white thing is as there are lots of them with this spot.

With my visitors and just getting back from the UK with a houseful of stuff we don't know what to do with (except give to charity) I've had little time to researdh.

Help! I've just had to come in from digging the garden as the biggest and densest swarm of midges ever is covering the whole garden. I thought I had better come in as I would have been breathing them in if I had stayed out.

[IMG] I came across these two passing the time of day on my walk yesterday morning. They were right down in the bottom corner so had to use full zoom, so not as clear as I would like... They just looked so comical standing there......Just as though they were passing the time of day..!! :D

Red Crested Pochard. Similar to our ordinary pochards, but with more red on the head and a tufty "punk" hairstyle. There are very few in Britain so this one on Connaught Water this morning was good to see. Probably an escape.

It was such a nice afternoon we went for a walk alongside of the Fleet lagoon(where they practised the bouncing bomb in WW2).
Not very clear but there were a few pairs of Stonchats around, this is the male.
