Sumo,I nearly missed this thread. We have seen your Choughs when we had our holiday on Man.We went up to Maughold Head and saw them there. That was the first tick for us of them.We have since seem them down in Cornwall down on the Lizard, and they are a lovely site to see with their curved red bill and red feet. They are begining to grow in numbers down on the Lizard thanks to a group of people down there monitering them and trying to keep their nesting sites safe from predators, mainly of the human kind who like to stael the eggs of such rare birds...

First one I've seen this year, I've just compared the markings with a pic I took the summer before last and they are identical almost.
    How can they do that?

Lovely Pete! I saw our first peacock yesterday - but it was only a flutter, and by the time I'd raced in for the camera, it had gone!

    That's beautiful Pete.
Is that a real snail or a fossil on the right just below the clover?

Your gonna have to clean those windows now roders :D

Dave it must be a fossil, to tell you the truth I didn't notice it myself until I looked at the pictures later, was far to intent on the butterfly.

[IMG] This little chap has taken up residence in this Ash tree. Every day as I walk down to the fields he is there singing. Trouble is as you can see, he is usually up in the top of the tree... :D

Nice pix KM! Can't add any of my own this time - but we saw our first swallows on Monday! Hope they'll nest in the barn again - they have done every year so far....

Weather has been glorious today. News said temp reached 21C in Dundee and Leuchars has had their 6th hotest April day ever.

No pics I'm afraid as today was a 'chainsaw day' but I've seen both Tortoishells and Peacock butterflies as well as a plethora of mason bees and great fat lolloping bumble bees.

Spring is now well underway! [IMG]

I saw my first Brimstone last Tuesday which was nice to see.Such a lovely colour as it flitted across the garden. It looks like my Blue Tits have finally decided that the nest box is warm enough to start laying eggs.I would love to take a peep, but don't want them to desert if she is starting to lay

I have a wren making its nest just by the kitchen door - I don't know if it will stay, as when the kids are here, with the mutt too, it'll be too noisy and busy :(
