Hey, good shot roders, he/she seems almost tame. Who was it feeding the blackbird by hand recently?

[IMG] Thanks Kedi, yes I would love to hand feed a wild bird,I cant remember who it was now but it was an incredible picture. This one, I was working in somone elses garden, but I'm sure if I worked there regularly, there would be potential to hand feed this one.

Roders - it was Walnut hand-feeding the blackbird.

I also believe that the wild birds get used to you and get quite tame. A couple of years ago we had a blackbird that would stand outside the kitchen window and look in at me. It was winter and he was asking for bird seed to be put out. We have some in the garden now that walk and hop right by us less than 40 cm away. This year we had a robin often coming close too, about a meter was the closest he allowed. I think they know who they can trust and I wish you the luck to meet up with a little trusting friend.

I got distracted by the birds and forgot to post my bugs!

First off this bee in a thistle -

This year we have round yellow courgette plants and the one sort of bee can't get enough of the nectar, saw up to 6 in one flower at one time!

I know that I've posted a lot of these ones but Hubby and I just couldn't get over the pushing and shoving that was going on in the flowers!

I had this wood wasp in my garden yesterday, they are very big and scary although I understand they don't sting and the large pointy bit at the back is used for laying eggs in the wood.

Thanks Dizi. There are up to 6 in one flower at the same time!

What fantastic close-ups on your wasp! I've never seen such a one before.

Spotted some leaf cutter bees setting up their egg chambers yesterday. They are using the neighbours extension roof, the same site as last year.

Tried to get some pics but they don`t sit outside the chamber for long. Will try to get some over next day or two.

They are using my rose tree for their leaf cuttings, I don`t mind as they are a fascinating creature to watch.

Well, this wasn't flying or buzzing but it was trying to get into our bedroom two nights ago. I had a screaming fit and Hubby had to get rid of it.
