Tee hee - thankyou for the froghopper info! Now I know!

Lovely pictures - I really adore the third one - what a delicate creature, reminds me of a fairy! I know dragonflies hold their wings outwards at rest, and damsel flies hold theirs against their bodies - this one seems a bit in the middle - and has he/she lost a wing?

Thank you and yes, I think it must have lost a wing, JarBax. There was another one last week, at first I thought one wing was damaged, but then I wondered if it had just emerged as a dragonfly and the wing was still crumpled up. I probably posted it over in my pond thread.

The picture of the dragonfly with the damaged or crumpled wing - I just found it in this thread on page 46.

I can't compete with those, well done.
This moth was on the inside window sill this morning but wouldn't stay still for a sharp pic. [IMG]

Like Strongy, I can't compete with the quality of photographs here - well done everyone [IMG]

This little chap was hopping around yesterday waiting for mummy to come feed him. He waited ages and when she finally came back and I thought I would get a good shot, she "flew" him away out of range. [IMG]

He had the odd flap of wings to amuse himself while waiting but he just looked so bored ......

I just think this says it all..............

I wish I was closer with a better camera - you would have done it beautifully Roders !!

Strongy, what a handsome chap that is! I have never seen one like that before but I guess that when he closes his wings then you just see the dark part. How lovely when he opens them.

Kryssy, just love your little bird. Well done. I've not yet been able to catch a bird.

Here a couple of pics taken yesterday -

    This -

started out as one of these - a Cabbage White Butterfly Caterpillar

I saw the caterpillar on the living-room window last week and thought that he would perhaps spin himself a cocoon. As you can see, he did but what a strange one, with little horns.

While I was trying to get a photo, he moved his head to the left twice.

Sorry about the red glare, I kept trying but couldn't get rid of it.

Hello Kedi-Gato. It's a Blood vein moth, they are found along waysides and woodland edges. You are lucky to get a phot. I spotted an unusual moth yesterday in the garden but can't find it in my book. And of course I hadn't got my camera [IMG]

Thanks walnut, I have edited again to include your info.

Does the Inchworm not turn into a butterfly? I googled but came up with nothing.
