Couldn`t believe my eyes today when I saw a peacock butterfly,I have never seen one this late in the year.

It was unusually mild today and I think the poor thing was woken from its winter slumber.

Evening, pip ... will have to look that one up as I don't know it.

We've got lots of Monarchs at the mo and the usual Whites ... I think they're called Cabbage Butterflies with you guys, aren't they?

First Thrush in the garden for a year or two, not very many round here. Not a clear shot as it was taken through the window.

PS - glad to see this thread starting off again. Last pics were the lovely butterfly ones that Sis put up in November.

Not much to see this afternoon at the Reserve but I saw these skulking in the reeds sheltering from the wind.
Centre, a pair of Gadwall, right, a male Teal and wife right of him and a Snipe to the left of the Gadwall and another male Teal hidden in the foreground. ;)

Bet they were sheltering from the east wind coming from over our way! It has been so windy of late that I think everything has been blown away.

Nice group photo, strongy, even if they are trying to look invisible!

Couldn't get any closer, Teal particularly are very wary.
It's been wet and windy but mild here on and off for about three weeks.
I have been trying to catch sight of the Cattle Egrets that are overwintering here (and around the UK) but no luck. :(

Know someone will come back at me... but that is one thing i miss about living down south - the wildlife (birds especially). I know there are more than sparrows just yards away from me but i don't get to see them & the way they (council land &/or private housing are building) are going the birds won't be here much longer.

I used to live quite close to the New Forest in Hampshire & was 'made' to birdwatch, **** at it but still loved seeing the different ones.

Keep posting all your lovely photos. They are great - understatement.

    Cheers

It seems that there are only the Monarchs about at the moment ...

... on the Prunus dulcis, Almond Blossom ...

... and the Euryops chrysanthemoides, Paris Daisy ...
