    LOL

    Re your flying mothra!

    try contacting... http://www.whatsthatbug.com/

where they try and identify bugs from all over the world. If they don't answer first time, try re-submitting your query, as apparently they are often snowed under with requests for Unidentified Creepy Crawlies!

I have googled and googled but can't come up with an answer!

    Good luck Sherlock!

    No, walnut, I don't think it's a moth or a bee, Cookie. I'm sure it's a beetle of sorts.

Like your story,Cookie, and thank you for that link. Mine actually is similar to the Metallic Wood Boring Beetle from Brazil if you scroll down their page, but mine is smaller and fatter. I have e-mailed them and will let you know the response. It's a good link, lots of neat critters, so I've saved it. [IMG]

Probably CM, Yellow legged or Lesser Black Backed. Gulls are notoriously difficult to ID.
Good shot Lol, now go and find a Hoopoe or a Bee Eater. :D

    Thanks, guys.

I just thought they were seagulls ... a pigeon-toed one in the first instance and a strutter in the second. :D

My friends have Hoopoes in their garden, strongy, but I understand you have to have grass to have them ... so I'm sh*t out of luck!

Just looked Bee Eater up in my book ... what a beauty! Must now go trawl to find the bird I hear early in the morning that sounds like a puppy crying ... and no, it's not a puppy somewhere here for years!
