sorry i scared the mum,they nest here every year ,its in a triangle in the middle of 4 lane dual carriageway,went back to car to make sure she returned,and she did

 

IIRC the easy way to tell damsel from dragon flies is damsels fold their wings along the body, dragons at right angles to the body.

Kathy - was it an oystercatcher? They ae nown to nest on roundabouts and iflat fravelly areas. We have a returning pair on aflat roof in the primary school behind out garden - they annoy a lot of the neighbours with their sharp calls, but I don't mind them.

 

Kedi that's the common green capsid, Lygacaris pubulinus, not garden friendly.

billywitch's(cock chaffers) in the evening loads of them all round the conifers and if we leave the window open they decide to come in which is a tad annoying to say the least lol

This is what we have in the garden, it grows like weeds so Mr K has to divide it every year or two.

Hi Kedi! Yes, I feed the birds year round. The last pic shows the goldfinches which are probably the most colourful bird in our garden. I love their wee tinkling call too.

Seen a greater spotted woodpecker this week on my garden fence. And I have discovered that I have a tawney owl living five mins. from where I live.
