In no way an expert on butterflys, but it occurs to me that we are always encouraged to grow plants such as budleias to attract them.

Perhaps more emphasis should be put on growing the plants that are food for the caterpillars, trouble is in most cases I dont think they are that ornamental or desirable.:)

True Pete, brambles and nettles for instance but unfortunately nobody wants them in their garden.:(

I have never seen one before .... only hear them .... but here is a Cicada ....

I'm not sure which of the species it is but it's possibly the Cicadetta argentata as the others tend to favour pine forests and I live in citrus orchards.

I'm able to hold it as it's dead as a dodo having found it on my kitchen patio.:(

Great pic, Sis, and just look at those wings! As Marley said, "delicate perfection".

Bob, I usually hold my breathe as the tripod is never there when I need it. (Oh, I bought a darling mini one (cheap) a few weeks ago, only about 15cm tall, legs extend another 4.5cm. There was even a smaller one, a real weeny, for on the keychain!)

Great pics strongy, I've found two of these beetles too but not ones this colour.

I've caught some bumble bees too, Marley. I love your Hebe BTW.
