    Capney - what excellent shots of the Southern Hawker (a female). :thumb: What an honour to have one sit on your fingers! The most I have ever had was one stretching out a leg and touching my finger.

    Then the wonderful shot of the wings is brilliant, very well done.

    Kedi the Damsel is The Scarce Emerald (lestes dryas) scarce in s.england but common on the continent.

    I think all the photos that appear on this thread are absoloutley fantastic and some are good enough to be used as competition entries or in magazines :thumb:

    The moth is indeed a day flying moth Pip probably July Belle (Scotopteryx luridata)

    Thanks Walnut, I do have a book with all the native British moths in it but a lot of them are so alike it is quite hard to distinguish between them. :confused:

    Kedi the fly is The green bottle fly (Lucilia sericata) it's a common blowfly attracted to dead meat they use the larvae in medicine to remove rotting flesh on ulcers.
