What a great shot of the hoverfly coming in for landing, Ace! Very well caught :thumb: Needless to say, I'm green with jealousy :D.

I note that your camera does a 5-pic multi shot, mine only does a four. I haven't taken any good shots with that function yet, need to practice more.

Hi Kedi The camera isn't limited to 5 multi pics I think the only limit to the amount of pics you can take on the ultra high speed setting is the amount of space on the card. I focused the lens on the flower then tapped the stem waited a few seconds for the hoverflies to return then pressed the button and took about 20 shots, these were from near the end of shoot.

Wow! A machine-gun type thing. I don't suppose that a small camera, like I am after, has that function?

I also have a film camera that will fire off a 36 exp film in less than 10 seconds, I don't use it now since I got my digital one. Two reasons for this, one the costs involved and two with digital you can dump the rubbish shots at the press of a button instead of paying for them then putting them in the bin.
Here's another one I took yesterday.

Lovely! How close do you manage to get? Like for this shot and the multi-ones above?

I like the way the white flowers are not blurred from being too close, they look like they are covered in a white cloud. Or did you alter them to look like that? The hoverfly so nice and clear, sitting on a white cloud.

    I do love this pic.

    Wonderful macro work guys.
You are almost making me think I should be looking for new kit.
And after I promised myself I would not go that way again with humping loads of kit about.. I do miss a manual focus on my Panasonic. I find it lot restrictive when up close.

I found this handsome new visitor in the garden today.

amblyteles armatorius, a member of a large group of insects called Ichneumons (no common name i'm afraid). ID'd by Walnut, thanks!

This next pic is rather unclear and he didn't give me a chance to get a third shot. But the pattern and colours can be seen.
