I think Its some kind of natural affinity I have with all things that have wings.
I had quite a serious conversation with a bumble bee yesterday, we passed the time of day and parted good friends....

I didn`t get a pic of it, the canopy is still too dense but about 7am this morning I got a good clear view of a woodpecker, pecking away at my oak.

I found this little bee (can't identify it) today, along with what I think is a Tree Grayling and of course my beautiful Swallowtail came to visit again ....

Whilst we were out on Sunday, Sis saw what I thought was a Hummingbird and apparently it was a Hummingbird Moth I saw .... so now I'm on the lookout for that as well.

In the meantime, Magic Sam brought this to me this morning .... I'm not sure if it was a cricket or locust (it was at least 8cm long) but after posing for me I let it go into the orchards ...

Not 100% sure Lol but the stripes and spines on the legs look very locust like.
Half a dozen dipped in chocolate would make a tasty snack:D

The critter is a grasshopper family Acridiae it becomes a locust when it swarms ,possibly Omocestus rufipes or woodland grasshopper they do make nice snacks when roasted.
