Thanks Robert. I wondered about the reddish one, too, never seen that colour before. The top one looks rather drab.

While getting my Florida photos of last year on to my PC, I came across this unknown bug (some sort of cockroach?). Would appreciate an ID - walnut?

Australian Cockroach Kedi, they only survive in hot humid areas of the States, introduced by accident( as most pests are).

    Thanks strongy.

Have come across some more insects needing ID-ing.

First this small green fly -

Then this very interesting green chappie. It looked like a leaf and I am wondering if it could be some member of the grasshopper or cricket family. I have looked in my books but can't find anything like it.

This next pic of it is rather unclear but because of the reflection in the window, you can see it's face. Looks quite monkey-like, I think.

It was high up on a store window and I had to stand on the windowsill to get these pics.

Katydid Kedi, not sure which one as there are many in the States, it's just an odd shaped grasshopper with a very distinctive call.:)

    Thanks again, Strongy.

Now that you gave me a name for it, I looked it up and Wikipedia has pics of the most amazing ones and in all sorts of unusual colours. Please have a look yourself.

Just love your Katydids, Sis ... I remember them ... and that little green fly is almost luminous .... well captured!

I haven't learned how to photograph 'hovering' birds yet, but this diddy little character was picking at insects on the vine going up the deck. It was a matter of grab the camera quickly, zoom all the way in and take the picture from the kitchen window through the new screen that was installed today. I've looked in my book but haven't identified him/her yet ...

Love your little bird, Sis. It is a nice clear pic taken through the screen, well caught!

Early last evening, the frogs finally arrived in our pond, not counting the pair that turned up about two weeks ago.

Today I found another couple in a tight embrace on the lower patio. After taking some pics, I carefully picked them up and put them into the pond.

Maybe a Chiffchaff Vicky, difficult to tell as it's not facing you but it is warbler like.:)

Actually, strongy, I did think it might be a Chiffchaff ....:)

My book says they have a 'hu-eet' call and we've been hearing that in the mornings, they like woodland and scrub ... sort of us around the orchards ... they are a passage migrant in the South in the winter ...

Apparently here in Brittany some swallows have been seen. The blue tits are checking out our boxes (late this year I think). Lots of bees thank goodness. Bluebottles now surfacing after the farmers have been ploughing the fields. Saw the fox with a pheasant on Monday I'm guessing she'll be feeding her kittens (is that what baby foxes are called?) ... or are they pups? The jays are squawking ... and noticed a cricket, lots of butterflies and a few leftover staghorn beetles .. awe shame ...
Yep, frogs in the pond ... must look for the newts too - had hundred of them last year ...

Visited Loch of the Lowes today to catch a glimpse of the Ospreys. The female arrived from Africa on 20th March and the male arrived on 29th.
Not a great pic as I'd forgotten my remote shutter release:dh:

I was pushing things to the limit as the nest is quite some distance from the hide.
