    Yes they did, they said that it was a tool for cutting peat, but there's different shapes.

      I have seen tools like this labelled as hay cutters.

        That brings back a long lost memory, is it a tool used by roof thatchers? Didn't they straighten up the thatch prior to fitting with a sharp edged tool like that ?

          Not easy to see in the picture but I'm assuming its a spade with a 90 degree angle to it, it looks flat but I think its the camera angle that is making it look like just one blade.

          It's for cutting and lifting peat. All the different islands had different styles/shapes of them.

              Well, the company named upon that tool still trades and a brief viewing of their website suggests its not a current pattern. Perhaps @Logan you might email your photos to them and ask.
              Given its small size, that it appears be to stainless steel and the original owner was not thought to have used it, perhaps a ceremonial item for nominally planting a tree, like royalty sometimes do.
