Its a Veronica Michael , Veronicastrum have a whorl of leaves around the stems . Your Veronica looks quite tall so its probably one of the longifolia varieties .

@Victoria the dead heading is a non stop job. The Lychnis tend to spread so much that we don't dead head but chop them back when the flowers have gone over and others of them get pulled up by the roots and binned unless we can find people to give them to. The annuals, not really shown much of those, take a lot of time to dead head. Last year we had over 100 pots of them. We've reduced the number this time.

Cutting back the trees, shrubs and perennials is an enormous job. The Lilac trees you can see in my last post are just two of them. I can't remember whether we have 7 or 9 of them . Lilies need a lot of dead heading and and we have dozens of them around the garden so we don't get around to doing them unless we're passing by.

Thanks for the information @Perki I was hoping someone would enlighten me. I'll have to remember the difference between them.
I have gone back and changed the name in the posting.

Might be approaching peak sweet pea picking. Daily picking has now reached 54 stems.

You are going into full bloom now Perki ... looks fantastic. Is that Santa Cruz Begonia around your Dahlia? I have it and love it but have to keep it in the shade.
