@pete, Does the Erythrina die down and how is your Caesalpinia doing? mine from your seed (last year) are very slow, barely 2ft high.

Hi Clive, the Erythrina goes into the unheated garage in winter and I prune it back, but last autumn I pruned just as much as I needed in order to get it inside, so less than usual, and I kept it slightly moist, which seems to have stopped massive die back, which I usually get if I keep them bone dry.
As to Caesalpinia, they are very slow, I find, I'm experimenting a bit with compost etc, even trying the root fungus stuff, (name escapes me), and an acid compost.
I've planted two out,one last year at about a foot tall, and another the same size this spring, both are doing better than anything in pots.
Not sure how clear it is in the picture but the one planted out this spring had grown one shoot of 26ins and still growing.
They are at the base of the house wall, where the original one was, facing south west.

I'm struggling to get them to 2ft in pots so you are doing well.

All very pretty Upsy, despite your weather. Did you do the Lavatera from seed? They look quite established.
