I’d go with woundwort … rub the leaves firmly … do they smell now?

    Not half! @Dovefromabove .
I should've known. It's all over the garden creeping and sneaking but in my own defence, I haven't seen it tall and bushy before and there wasn't a smell until it wilted.
Here endeth my litany of excuses

If it was difficult to grow we’d pay money for it … it’s quite pretty when it’s in flower :noidea:

I though it was Woundwort but as I know you have it already I assumed I was wrong

Ours usually always gets to about 2-3ft before flowering. I agree with @Dovefromabove re it’s prettiness - I always think of it as like a wannabe salvia. The foliage does have a certain distinctive bouquet but haven’t noticed a scent from the flowers? so it’s only on the rare occurrence I do any weeding that I encounter the smell

The flowers are lovely. Maybe they have a scent, but it would be masked by the smell of the leaves

Luckily I don’t notice the scent unless I brush, crush the leaves

After reading your post I was going to say Woundwort as I had it in OH's garden in Norfolk. Then I realised there is a page two and it has been answered!
