Found in my mums garden! Seems to have migrated over from next door. Beautiful yellow flowers insects seem to love. Would like to know what it is and whether I can get a cutting! :snork:

They are pretty easy shrubs to take cuttings from; try getting a few heal cuttings, popping in a pot and keep watered and they should root in a few weeks.
Is your neighbours shrub a tall variety?

Thanks both. Yes it's my mum's neighbour and theirs is pretty tall, a good 2M tall. Beautiful! By "heal cutting" what do you mean M? I'm not familiar with that term!

A heel cutting (sorry, it was a typo in my previous post) is where the cutting you take from the plant includes a piece of the older wood. Here is an image of a heel cutting:

As you can see the cutting is pulled away from the main branch with a strip of the main (older) branch attached. So you should end up with a piece with an end looking like this:

          Does that help?

Yes, thank you very much, espesh for the pic explanation! I'll be seeing her again in a few weeks so will attempt a cut then.

Btw Hypericum - is the common name St John's Wort for all varieties?

            Hi Ben,
The most common one is called " Rose of Sharon ".
I may be wrong but I think "St Johns Wort" only applies to the smaller ones derived from the wild ones.
