Widened a new border, to accommodate more plants. Unbeleivably lifting the turf I could shake the soil off despite the constant rain. A foot down it is fairly dry mainly because it is sand.

Nothing today except have a mini wander about. I noticed that the Labrador Violets are starting to flower. It's been quite windy here which is enough to make gardening less enjoyable for me than it would be. Add to that the cold, dampness of a north facing garden and I soon scarpered indoors. I'm such a light weight! :snork:

Got rid of an ugly ornament, gathered some sticks to use for a fence, did a little tidying up.

The ice has cleared a little, so managed to dig out some rocks that might come in handy. Found some pieces of slate in the same spot, remembered that I'd seen some slate stick out of the ground on the outside of the fence as well so went to have a look and found lots and lots of more of it beneath a layer of dirt and moss. Decided it could be counted as lost, so brought some back to the garden - a whole bunch actually - and covered the remaining with dirt so that no one could see.

Not a big hemerocallis fan, but I do like quiet Crimson Pirate so have made yet another attempt to get them to look lush and bloom nicely. Supposedly they are a grow anywhere but in this garden they have not been a great success, with few blooms and quickly browning lank foliage. Potted them up last autumn and today dug in a lot of manure into their new home, the most pampered lilies going. If they don't shine they are going to the village fete!
Also spread a lot of muck on my veg beds.

Just more general tidying up and weeding. Cleared an overgrown bit under a pine tree and found a load of daffs coming up that haven't seen the light of day for a few years. I'm not sorry we haven't had the big freeze but it does mean the weeds are thriving!

Thank you. The neighbours fence is a new thing for us. I originally thought it would stop light coming in but I was a bit crafty. I asked them to saw a few of the ivy riddled elderberry trees down at the back of their garden and then I also went on a black ops mission to saw the base of other ivy monsters. I think I'm going to get more light now!

                    Time will tell I suppose.

It's been dry today so I was in the garden for 9am. Tidied up one raised bed and the area around it. There were more leaves to pick up....I'm not sure where they came from! Dragged out some nasturtiums which were still green but into the green waste bin they went. Top dressed some of my pots. I've got rosemary in a large pot and noticed it's got a few flowers on it!! Spotted a big fat caterpillar on the clematis. It is February isn't it?? :snork:

Decided to move stuff round in the shed and tidy up so took everything out and put it all back in again. Good job it's a small shed. Then I washed a load of pots and started chitting my spuds. Phew!
