I don't think so, :heehee: but if she came to visit you wouldn't be able to stop her weeding and tidying up. She even pulls weeds up at hotels when we go on holiday! :hate-shocked:

We stayed at a B&B on a farm one night and she saw a tray of plants that the farmer's wife had bought. She asked where they were going to be planted and then planted them whilst the farmer's wife was making breakfast!

I didn't do a lot today. Did a small amount of weeding, trimmed the edges of most of the lawns, fed the birds, picked plums, apples and blackberries.

I gave the shed it's second coat of Cuprinol, strimmed the bank in my garden and mowed the back lawn.

walking by my spent astilbes, standing nicely they are. The flower parts sturdy and tall, but brown in color. Kept thinking why not give them a light dusting of a spray color. So I did this morning. A few swishes back and forth of a good red spray color, just enough not to look too abnormal. But enough to have a red brown effect. Kinda nice. Wonder if husband will notice. Doubt it. Just an idea. Maybe it should have been blue. hum.

Didn't have long after work so planted some alliums up in plastic pots, one lot sharing with a hellebore (hopefully that will work out ok).
I also did some more watering as we've still no rain here. Generally checked on everything and earmarked some wallflowers for planting out tomorrow. I need to speed up my planting out as sometimes things end up a bit pot bound. It's just finding room for them!

I've done a lot today! I took out some plants, tidied up, planted out lots of Alliums (thank you to the person who recommended Anglia Bulbs, a brilliant company!) and installed a trellis on a drain pipe ready for the climbing white rose I ordered.

Jack....we all know as gardeners that one persons weed is a special garden plant to another. The Oxalis you have in a pot at the bottom of your picture I'm trying to eradicate from my garden, it even fights against glyphosate and recovers. It grows as a weed here all over the island. Perhaps I'm missing out on some easy pocket money! :)

Are they winter flowering Cyclamen you have there? I like the deep pink. :)

Ha, you know what, I've always wondered what the Oxalis really was. Our family have always known it as Huffie. My gran is from Northern Ireland and moved to the mainland back in the 30/40s. The only thing she brought with her was a small pot of Huffie which the local villagers called because it gets in a huff and closes at night. Now I know what it really is, thank you! And in light of that, I think I'll be more vigilant at deadheading to stop it spreading. While I like it in a pot for sentimental value, I don't really want it taking over the garden! (In fact I just ran out and did that as I saw one seedling earlier today...)

I think the cyclamen are, yes. They were given to me by our upstairs neighbour when she moved out. Last year they flowered all winter right through to March time. They're flowering well but are perhaps a bit too leafy this year. I probably need to divide them but I know they flower less if disturbed. Funny how tastes change, they were too pink for me last year but after seeing a show garden that used the same colour I've done a 180 and have started theming the garden off of them!

So now you'll be calling it Oxalis and I'll be calling it Huffie. :heehee: I tried to grow cyclamen from seed, very few germinated and those that grew gave up on me after a few weeks. :doh:You're right about tastes changing, I've always hated Hydrangea's but I'm coming round to the idea of a climbing (lace cap) type in the future. :)
