I've just spent 45 minutes clearing a bucket full of moss from a corner of one of our flower beds. That's about all my back can take in one go! :old:

At that rate I've only got another 25-30 hours to go in order to clear the moss from the beds in the front garden. :heehee:

I'm going to drag my new bags of compost from the front to the back garden ready for the Spring sowing.

Then I'm going to sow a bunch od assorted seed that I think might benefit from/ get away with early starting.

      Lobelia tupa and Queen Victoria
      Salvia argentea
      Lavatera cachemirica and various others.

I've been mulling over a design for a ceramic alpine tower, might go and build a maquette. Might run it past you for comments if I do.

So, switch off and get out there!

Sun and cloud here this morning - cold and windy though when the sun goes in - did a bit of watering in the greenhouse seedlings (herbs).
Noticed lots of shoots on my last year's error purchase of multiple double packs Chrysanths :oopss:. Most ended up in pots so I could overwinter without digging them up. Left some in the garden just to see (couldn't be asked to dig!). Need to take cuttings of these. No flowers/buds on any bulbs yet.

I have also left some pots of geraniums out (in my neighbour's part) - they are doing better than those put away in the greenhouse which have moulded a bit . Outside the annual lobelia has resprouted in the pots too.

Washed another load of pots. Someone remind me to wash them as I go along this year. :gaah:

At long last I managed to get outside today, the first time since before Christmas! The roses are now pruned and I have battle wounds even though I had gloves on.

Just been outside for a hour or so after work and made a start on the conifers at the back (hard work :gaah:)
For some strange reason I started in the middle
Anyway lopped about 5 - 6ft off them and a big bonfire will be needed soon

Well decided to go out and start a bonfire at 7pm, half of what I cut now burnt.
Loads left to do yet though

Haven't been in my garden for a week, but sowed a few chilli seeds and placed on my windowsill at work. These are dried seeds from the Italian chillies I brought home last year and they have sprouted already. It is extremely warm in my office at work, so that obviously did the trick!:dancy:

Garden was still a bit too soggy to do much so I tidied up the tubs on the decking today. So many weeds and soggy leaves collected in there. But there's lots of signs of life budding on the shrubs there :)

My Hydrangeas particularly. Some buds have already broken and leaves emerged, but for the rest the buds have really fattened. Not good if we have late frosts ...
