I've been digging out buttercups, strawberry weed, grass, broad leafed weeds etc. from some of the veg garden. Very hard work as the soil is so claggy. There's a loud sucking noise each time I lever the fork upwards in the soil (and it's not coming from me!).

I don't seem to have got very far but the wheelie bin that I dumped them in was so heavy that it was difficult to move! More complaints from the bin men  :heehee:

Moved some moss around today and squashed a finger between some rocks, first garden related injury this year. Woohoo.

Whilst "digging" around in the Greenhouse, which I still haven't cleaned up, I found among other plants in pots a White flowering Hydrangea so I planted that in the border under the Lilac "Madame Lemoine". Then I got on my knees and planted bulbs of Freesias, Dutch Iris, Anemones, Gladioli and Acidanthera in different areas of the borders which took some time as I kept uncovering other bulbs planted over the years:dunno: :doh:and then I went for a :coffee:
This afternoon I sowed, in trays, 5 varieties of Tomatoes [just the conventional types due to last years lack lustre performance] and the trays went into heated propagators. Then I had to decide what annuals and perennials to sow and ending up sowing, two varieties of Cosmos, two varieties of Monarda, two varieties of Centaurea, Asters, 2 varieties of Shasta Daisies, a tray of harvested Lupin seeds out of pods from last year, Rudbeckia Goldsturm, Rudbeckia Rustic Dwarf, Nicotiana, and then put two varieties of Sweet Pea into water to soak overnight, by which time it was time for another :coffee: But I've still got over 30 packets of annuals and perennials to sow and plant or give to the local Garden Club Sale in May.
I also discovered at the back of the Green House 4 different Clematis in pots that I'd "forgotten" I'd put there to overwinter, so they will get planted over the weekend.:heehee:

Lots of weeding and moss and lichen scraping - never had it this bad. Tidied up an astilbe and a fuschia. Moved clumps of Crocosmia which somehow got in the wrong bed - no idea how that happened. Yesterday I'd potted up some Cosmos and put them on a window ledge outside while I was doing other stuff. I forgot to bring them back in again last night and we had a frost this morning :ouch1:. They survived and look happy and healthy :dbgrtmb: Phew!

Lots of jobs lined up for my afternoon off tomorrow and over the weekend. I'm giving a load of plants to work colleagues, so need to dig some up and move others out of planters.

I've got a Prunus Royal Burgundy to plant out front and a few plants to pot in new planters.

Ordered some seed trays from Asda with my shopping so will have a go at some seeds.

May also try and mow the soggy lawn. It's shooting up but too wet to cut so am hoping for some dry weather.

I'm expecting so many I'm making a wildlife pond for frogs. Pellets down in the interim...

I also couldn't resist any more and have planted out the fig. Went for the 'stick it in a big pot' approach as opposed to making a barrier out of slabs.

I don't have much faith in that myth, loofah, as my wife used to move Paeonies and other hardy perennials around in the borders so much that I used to joke that the plants would need suitcases if she kept moving them like she did:heehee: I've got over 9 Paeonies and I can't remember one "sulking" when moved in the dormant state during the Winter. Splitting a Paeonia is a slightly different matter as it all depends on the size of the Paeonie, when you move and split it and how much you divide it so it might just "sit still" for a couple of seasons but give it a good feed until it comes back to normal.:snork:
