I've two peonies that have never flowered. One old, one a couple of years old in different parts of the garden but never a flower between them.

Today I potted up lots of seedlings - Platycodon, Gaura, Gaillardia and some more Cosmos and did some more tidying up of borders. Hate doing the one at the back of the decking as I know there's rats under there and I keep on expecting them to pop out of the holes they've made.

Not much today, fitted a 6ft x 9 inch shelf in the GH which has come in really handy already, full of sweet peas, calendula and nasturtiums. Potted up some canna rhizomes and put them in the heated propagator.
        Still plenty to sow

Done the first part of the jobs, ie digging up one Skimmia, six dwarf Rhodos and a Prunus Stella. Potted all except two ready for donation. Two of them I'm keeping (Rhodo Baden Baden and Molly Ann) so moved into nice planters.

Spread a load of old tomato compost on the borders after I had cut down all the old stalks , gave it a good fresh look .
Decided to dig the raspberries out and have bagged up most of them for one of the girls in work , just before they break bud its amazing how shallow they root so a lot easier than I thought.

Fed the weeping willows River side and the rest of the hedge along the back fence , getting quite big now at last , I cut out a couple of blackberries that had seeded in the hedge, which is still to young at the moment to have competition.

Pruned the last of the roses.

Gave the guy next door some advice with his garden.

Quick tidy up of the summer jasmine and tied into place where needed.

Popped up to quickly check the bees (not inside the hive) so they are all out collecting pollen so pleased with them both.

So not a bad day , and with the weather you just have to do when you can .

You do realise it will grow don't you:)

A couple of years ago I built a willow den for the lad. It's thickening up nicely. Last summer it was almost fully green with few gaps (excepts the deliberate gaps for a window and two doors. Last year I extended it to include a tunnel from the back door to the wobbly bridge, and this year I've put a porch on the front door:)

Today, I have done a temporary fix to the fence which finally succumbed to the wind, before my very eyes.

Also started tidying the bit next to the patio. I just need to think what to do with that bit now. I've bagged up a load of junk, I guess I'll be having a drive to the tip later or tomorrow.

EDIT: Nearly forgot. I've also given myself a massive blood blister. An old polycarbonate for sale sign that I was busting up bit me. I expressed myself most openly with some very sophisticated language, then just got in with it.

Moving plants about a bit as I had some sulky looking Saxifrage that were just not happy. Bought some Erysimum Canaries that I just happened to see at the local nursery and planted them in a difficult spot and hoping they will tough it out, they usually do. Did some more veg seed sowing. Otherwise I've spent most of the day pottering outside as the weather is grand and too nice to be indoors.

Pricked out some snaps and some foxgloves.

Helped OH with some powerwashing and moved my pots and troughs into better positions. Did a bit of weeding and dragged out some labrador violets which seed everywhere and a small hebe which has never done anything and looked like it was on it's last legs.

                          1. Planted Apricot dwarf rooted tree into a large pot.
2.Planted a conference pear on dwarf rooting stock into a large pot.
                          3. Turned compost and placed good stuff on veg patch after weeding it.
                          4. Planned veg area, which is small so have to do my best to fit everything in.
                          5. Started pruning hedge.
                          6. Mulched fruit bushes - i haven't had much fruit from these 3 year old bushes, but hopeful this year.
                          7. Covered section of veg patch with the polythene that the trees came in to warm soil, even though it actually doesn't feel that cold.
8.Collapsed on a seat for 10 minutes to view my handy work before tidying up and going in.

A great afternoon, weather was just perfect!

Sowed tomato, pepper and celeriac seeds in the greenhouse.
Cut and edged lawns, then applied Armillatox to the mossy patches with a watering can, treated the block paving in the front garden as well.
Pruned a large buddleia and a guelder rose, all prunings shredded and added to the compost heap.
Off to the pub now. :ccheers:

Still putting mulching fabric around hedges ...

For light relief I stooled the Paulownia tomentosa. Good 2" diameter, went though it with secateurs - its like Balsa wood!

For further light relief I put 1M squares of ... mulching fabric :) ... around some Cobnuts.

Only a couple of hundred metres of mulching fabric left to do ...

Planted out a load of bare root delphiniums. Forgot I'd got them on a BOGOF offer so had to hurriedly revamp where I was planting them all. Dug in some Ericaceous fertiliser in amongst the rhodos/azaleas/camellias. Top dressed shrubs in planters. Brought the overwintering geraniums outside for a few hours for some sun and fresh air.
