Taken the winter wrapping off my tree ferns & given them a soak - lots of hairy fingers appearing so they look happy !

Might unwrap the Banananas at the weekend & see how they look. Maybe.

We had a really hard frost here this morning Nick and same forecast for tonight, so keep an eye in case you need to fleece.

I did a bit of tidying, weeding and tying but it was too cold to do much.

Sowed my leeks and verbenas yesterday in the greenhouse (hopefully haven't left it too late) and put up some guttering on my shed today.

I got back from Birmingham today, after what seemed for some reason an endless drive, with enough Sun in the skies to be able to change from a Suit into mucky clothes and start some garden jobs that I didn't manage over the weekend.
So I sowed in trays: Harvested Delphinium seeds from last year, a packet of Pacific Giant Delphiniums, Dahlia "Bishops Children", Brachycome, Amaranthus, Physostegia, Ice Plant, Salpiglossis, Pink Evening Primrose, "Halo Red" Hollyhock, Cleome, and then six pots of Sunflower "Moonshine" and Sunflower "Red Queen". After a mug of tea and with the Sun going down fast I repotted a Hebe that Mrs Shiney had given at the last Open Day into a larger pot, pruned the White, Blue, and the Yellow Buddleia ready for this year and left the prunings on the patio ready for shredding tomorrow or the day after and then on lights last gasp managed to prune the three White Hydrangeas. I was that pooped after that that I haven't had the energy for food so I'll have a late Supper.:coffee::snork:

                      Finished pruning roses
                      Pruned half the climbing roses
                      Pruned half the Sambucus
                      Pruned half the Buddleia
                      Half pruned the second Cornus.

                      Pretty half baked in fact!

                          No ... exactly half :)

Worked my way up one side of the garden, started on the pair of Cornus on the other side of the garden when a visitor arrived - right as I was in the middle of just pushing the Cornus stems into the back of the flowerbed - well, they root easily enough, if any of them choose to do so then that will be a bonus :)

Gave some more of my pots a feed seeing as everything now is springing into growth. Repotted some Agastache that I grew from seed last year to give them more room. Stuck a dwarf buddleia into a terracotta pot I had going spare. Stood looking at my pair of Japanese Maples in pots and wondered if I should cut off the bits that look dead. Got my secateurs and trimmed them a bit. Hopefully I didn't do any harm. I also hope they look good this season as last year they were a bit of an embarrassment! Shrivelled leaves aren't a good look. At least the leaf buds are starting to open now. I'm not sure what to feed them with as there's conflicting info on the net about whether they're acid loving or not. Does anyone know?
