Yesterday, emptied out the trays containing the failed attempt at begonia non-stop petticoat from the grow cupboard and re-used them to get my millefleur tomatoes sown (they were slow last year, so I am banking on the heat and light getting them off to a flying start.

    Today, I sowed:

    Foxglove Pam's Split
Calendula Art Mix (said to sow outdoors in position, but I am being a Maverick and have done them in a tray indoors)
    Tomato Manx Marvel
    Tomato Maskotka
Tomato Black Krim [anyone see a pattern here? :snork:]
    Tomato Bulgarian
    Tomato Delicious

I also 'found' a tray of nicotiana seedlings that I had lost yesterday - quite easy really, they are in the one place I didn't think to look which was in the heated propagator! Doh!

Don't let the begonias get you down @fat controller I've never had any success either :dunno:
But I've conquered my coleus nemesis got at least 2 dozen seedlings with 2 pairs of leaves!

Over the last few days have repotted some of the fuchsias, a few had weevils - stems just came out of the pots with no roots :gaah: likewise a large white astilbe that was in a pot was full of them - luckily I was splitting it - picked them out for Robins, washed off soil (into a bucket of water to drown any I had missed) and repotted into 4 smaller pots.

Indoors had some Red Hot Poker and Korean Fir seeds in the fridge that were sown today along with Hosta, Agapanthus and Astilbe.

E2A @ FC - my begonias sown mid December are still small - germination rates were rubbish - won't be doing these again - but on the upside, some of those I purchased last year as seedlings grew into small corms which are sprouting.

I've had some limited success with one variety, but this particular one gave me not a single bit of green.

I ordered some plug plants at the weekend, so hopefully they will save the day. I've never had a problem with coleus - in fact, first year I tried them I ended up with a forest of the things (although, I do seem to end up in the same situation with most seeds that I sow - I think I must be being over pessimistic at sowing time, and sowing more than I need in case of failures :snork:)

I mowed my back lawn today for the first time this year. Oh the moss! It's tripled over this winter so more hard graft coming up to shift it.

I went mad in the Garden today as it was the first day .since last year that we have had pleasant Sunshine and clear blue skies from early morning,0800 hours till 1700 hours.:yahoo:.
I worked in the Garden from 0800 till 1700.
I got both lawns cut,the grass was longish but dry enough to cut and it cut better than I thought, not a bad finish for the first cut.
                Did some pruning, roses etc.
                Did all the weeding,
                Cleaned the two decking areas.
Did some reshuffling with the Garden pots, of which I have quite a few .
Placed new compost in most of the pots and boxes,
Repaired some of the Solar lights, some went in the bucket as some of the contacts were rusted and broken with the Heavy Rain falls we have had.
Gave the shed a bit of a tidy up.

I then rewarded myself with a nice seat in the Garden Shed and a couple or three Brandy's overlooking the Garden and feeling very content with the work I had done in the Garden,
I was soooo content I had another couple or three Brandy's:ccheers: its been a good day:yes:.

The only problem, I'm now feeling my Age, 59:ccheers:.;););).

Dug over the area I'm preparing for the veggie plot. Discovered two hidden tree stumps that I've no hope of getting up that'll change my plans a bit

Finished weeding down one side of my L shaped border, unfortunately it was the short side, potted up 3 plants arrived with postman , no idea who ordered those , spent 30 minutes looking for the new secateurs I bought Monday, found them in the bag of weeds, hope to do more weeding today so I can make a start on planting out some of the plants I have, all H.P. been sat out since before Christmas.

I was going to sow my toms in early April. Should I be sowing them now instead?

Cut down a part of an unstable massive Photina, which has forced me into rescuing a fair sized bed in that area that was neglected and frankly a horrible mess. Bit annoyed really as I'd intended to not do any big jobs in the garden this year but to concentrate on veg growing and holidays.
Have given the bed a good preliminary dig over but now my gardeners back has kicked in so will dig again, weed and make good over the next while before putting in some foundation plants. Grand to be outdoors though as it's a lovely day now the fog has gone.

I have an affliction, not yet fully recognised by medical science - impatientus horticultius proliferous; the symptoms are many, with one of the main ones being a compulsion to sow seeds in great quantity at the earliest opportunity (I suspect there are a few members of GC that are also fellow sufferers) :snork:

Seriously though, I have no real idea when you should be sowing them - I tend to get started in early March mostly out of impatience and partly out of a desire to have as much yield as I can.
