What Jobs are we doing in the Garden today 2014..

Can you paint? A painting would save me a lot of bother - I'll put it there as a trompe l'oeil

Typical! I'll get my bike and get on it then ...

 

I've done everything except the Dahlias. Only took me an hour so am going to start one of the other zillion jobs us gardeners always have waiting to be done.

 

A bit of a sore head, too many vodka and lemonades last night
Potted on the musa's and mowed the lawn for the first tine this year.
Potted on some tigerella and sun gold toms.

 

Just finished potting up my Dahlia cactus corms , and the last trailing Begonia tubers. Now that the weather has moved up a couple of notches , moved a lot of pricked out seedlings from the overcrowded house to the GH .
The greenhouse needs cleaning but that can wait until tomorrow now, it has been waiting until tomorrow for the last 3 weeks !

 

I'm going to throw a spanner in the works! I'd have put the colours round the other way. White stands out more than the others so I would have put those at the far end and they'd draw your eyes through.

Think I'd best disappear now!

 

I've given about 50 odd plants their spring feed (slow release), potted an Acer Fireglow and a deciduous Azalea and given the lawn its first mow of the year. It's still very soggy but was getting a foot high in some places, so it had to be done. The air can get to the bottom now so it'll dry out quicker. I sprinkled grass seed and granular lawn feed all over it to hopefully fill it out a bit. I would've done compost as well, but my back is knackered.

I dug a couple of last year's Dahlias out of their planters and they are fine - in fact the corms are blimmin' huge. Put them in plastic pots for now until I decide where to put them. Left a couple in planters for the back garden. Now need to decide where to put the three I bought this year.

The garden's starting to take shape.

Next job is emptying out the composter so I can put it away in the garage. It's taking up space where I need to move a crab apple to. Not looking forward to that one!

I've also ordered a couple of heavy duty trellis panels for the climbing Roses/Clematis next to the garage.

 

Pricking out and potting on....pattern repeat...tided the gravel up around the 'top pond' seen as the chooks have got a fascination with itand waited for the sunshine which never came

 

taking advantage of the natural sprinkler today, covered the front lawn with new grass seed, especially in the sparce areas. the lawn really took a hit last summer when the trucks ran over it , in the process of taking down the 8 trees.

 

No sun here today or yesterday, probably be out next week while i'm at work! However, managed to pot up a couple of chilli plants that are living on my windowsill. Still quite cold, so not good in the garden as yet, but chased the dog and did some weeding. Oh and checked on my broad beans that are coming through. I've direct sown these this year, as i am still waiting on my greenhouse to be put up..........my blow-away blew away!
