What Jobs are we doing in the Garden today 2014..

An odds and ends sort of day. Spent an hour or so this morning fiddling about with gutter sealant, fittings, duck tape and a hosepipe, trying to sort out the greenhouse guttering which always seems to dribble and drip everywhere. Got quite sticky, wet and frustrated in the process.

Did a little spring pruning in the front garden; euonymus, viburnums and spirea all done and prunings shredded.

Did my second sowing of sweet corn in the greenhouse. (First sowing failed completely when we had a power cut and I forgot that the propagator resets to 'off' when that happens.)

 

Bring some to Shineyland and I'll buy them off you. I just cannot get any to germinate and even the bare root ones I bought are refusing to show any growth. I did get three from our local garden centre last year which are flourishing (well, absolutely huge to be honest) but I love delphiniums and want loads and would rather have some grown by a GC friend if possible.

 

I have two I need to move as they're too big for where they are. Dig you just dig it up as it is or cut it down first?

Cut them downd first and then dug under them with the root cutter jobbie. Easy to dig the roots out once they're severed and separate entities.

Not me - I'm a shining example of restraint!!

 

Power washed 2 patios and path all the way round the lawn 360 square foot in total. Then power washed all the kids toys. Cleaned out the shed and bought some new shelving, but didn't get time to put them up. I then weeded all the borders and veg beds. This afternoon I built the shed my parents gave as they have moved house and cannot take it with them, this is now filled with the kids toys. Cut down some branches overhanging my shed and chicken run and finally watered all plants in the grow house.

Stuck in most of the day doing course work
Kept myself going, thinking I would water the garden first and then if time sow some seed. Just about to go out and the heavens opened! Saved me the watering! An hour sowing in the greenhouse with my friend Mr Robin

 

Potted on my Chillis this morning and cleared the ground where I'm 'planting' a small Willow hedge ,snails have been on the rampage overnight so did a patrol...

Gave chooks their breakfast Escargot
